Due South Brewing Co. Taps Five New Beers for National IPA Day

due-south-brewing-logo-black-and-goldDue South Brewing Co. (Boynton Beach, Florida) has officially announced that it will recognize National IPA Day by pouring up five Limited Release, hop-centric brews on Thursday, August 2.

Scheduled each year for the first Thursday of August, National IPA Day is CraftBeer.com’s – a publication of the Brewers Association – attempt to get beer enthusiasts, breweries and bars from across the globe to raise a collective toast to one of craft beer’s best-selling and most iconic styles: the India Pale Ale.

With a lupulin-laced portfolio boasting beers like the best-selling Category 3 IPA, the multiple award-winning Category 5 IPA and experimental IPAs like Nun With A Chainsaw, it should come as no surprise that Due South Brewing Co. is incredibly amped to be a part of this year’s IPA Day festivities.  They will be getting in on the action by tapping the following collection of unique India Pale Ales:

  • Pineapple Category 5 IPA
  • Triple Dry Hopped Category 5 IPA – featuring an enormous amount of the tropical-forward Citra hop
  • Oaked Category 3 IPA on Nitro – aged on new American oak
  • Mango Daily Downpour IPA – the brewery’s latest IPA with Azacca, Falconer’s Flight, and Idaho 7 hops, now with added mango
  • Rosemary Category 3 IPA – featuring fresh locally grown rosemary

The beers above will be available on draft in Due South’s Boynton Beach taproom beginning at noon on Thursday, August 2.  These offerings are designated as taproom exclusives and are not expected to see distribution.  If you are in the area and free on August 2, be sure to swing by Due South Brewing Co. so that you can get your hands on these brews and raise a glass with your fellow hopheads to National IPA Day.  Prost!

Mexican Standoff Porter Earns Due South Brewing a Silver Medal at Can Can Awards

DueSouthMexDue South Brewing Co. (Boynton Beach, Florida) announced this week that Mexican Standoff, a Limited Release mole-inspired Porter, was awarded a Silver Medal in the Herb and Spice Beer Category at the 2018 Can Can Awards.

Established in 2017, the Can Can Awards is an annual beer competition that focuses solely on canned craft beers.  With judging taking place over two days near the Atlanta, Georgia area, the 2018 Can Can Awards saw 350 beers entered by breweries – both big and small – from across the globe.  This event is sanctioned by the BJCP, and judging is executed in a blind tasting format by a judging panel comprised of beer industry professionals.  To keep things as fair as possible, “judges were not allowed to judge beers in which they had an affiliation.”

“The blind tasting nature of this competition is what drives us to enter,” said Doug Fairall, the brewery’s Brand Marketing Manager. “We’re thrilled to see Mexican Standoff win a medal. It’s always a good feeling when our brewer’s hard work is recognized.”

Mexican Standoff is Due South’s annually released, mole-inspired strong Porter (8.2% ABV) that offers “rich chocolate and roasty flavors . . . complemented with the addition of chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and habanero peppers.”  These bold flavors obviously stood out among the crowd at this year’s Can Can Awards and earned Mexican Standoff a much-deserved Silver Medal in the Herb and Spice Beer Category.

This is the second year that Due South Brewing Co. has participated in this competition.  The folks at Due South walked away from the 2017 Can Can Awards with a Bronze Medal in the American-Style Pale Ale Category for Citrafied Pale Ale and a Silver Medal in the Imperial India Pale Ale Category for Category 5 IPA.

For just two years at one competition, consistent hauls such as these deserve to be recognized and celebrated.  If you are in the area, be sure to swing by the brewery to congratulate the Due South crew on this most recent win.  Prost!

Due South Brewing Co. to Add Grapefruit Category 5 IPA to Summer Lineup

duesouthbrewinglogoDue South Brewing Co. (Boynton Beach, Florida) has announced plans to expand their IPA portfolio later this month with the limited release of Grapefruit Category 5 IPA.

Arriving as the latest installment in a series of variants of Due South Brewing’s award-winning Category 5 IPA, Grapefruit Category 5 IPA benefits from the addition of “copious amounts of local Fort Pierce grapefruit peel” added during fermentation.  This addition allows the base Imperial India Pale Ale’s big hop flavor to absorb an added punch of juicy, citrus goodness.  At 8.5% ABV, Grapefruit Category 5 IPA possesses the size and refreshment level necessary to take on anything a Florida summer can throw at it.

“Grapefruit Category 5 IPA is an exciting addition to our lineup for summer,” said Doug Fairall, Brand Marketing Manager. “It’s part of our rotating production of the award-winning Category 5 IPA, which includes the Best Florida Beer 2017 Gold medal winning Oaked Category 5 IPA, previously available in March.”

Grapefruit Category 5 IPA will officially release in 4-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft in the Taproom at Due South Brewing Co. on Friday, June 30.  This incredibly limited release will also be available in 4-packs and on draft at select craft beer bars, restaurants and retailers located within Due South Brewing’s distribution area across South Florida and the Tampa Bay area.  Prost!
