Maui Brewing Co. Announces Return of Lemongrass Saison

mauilemongrasscan_editedMaui Brewing Co. (Kihei, Hawaii) recently announced that Lemongrass Saison will be making a much-anticipated return beginning on Friday, January 6.

Originally brewed in 2013 as a collaboration with The Lost Abbey (San Marcos, California), Lemongrass Saison will once again hit shelves and taps as the first Limited Release beer of 2017 for Maui Brewing Co.  This Belgian-inspired Saison begins with a recipe consisting of White Wheat, Oats, Pilsner malt, Cascade and El Dorado hops.  For added depth and complexity, the brew is then infused with a total of 200 lbs. of lemongrass locally raised at Simpli-Fresh Farms (a ratio of 40 lbs. per 100 bbl batch).  This refreshing brew comes together at an easy-drinking 5.2% ABV and 15 IBUs.

A simple Saison brewed with local Lemongrass is something I had wanted to do but never attempted. Our original batch of this beer was the culmination of that vision; and Maui Brewing’s skillful use of this amazing flavor makes me truly wish it was available more often. Lemongrass Saison officially releases on Friday, January 6 at both Maui Brewing Company locations (Kihei and Lahaina).  Shortly after the brewery launch, this limited release will then become available in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft in Florida and throughout Maui Brewing’s full distribution area.  Lemongrass Saison will only be around for a limited time, so get your taste of this refreshing brew while you can.  Prost!

Maui Brewing Co. Releases POG IPA as Latest Limited Release

pogcanMaui Brewing Company (Kihei, Hawaii) has officially released POG IPA as a new, Limited Release offering.

Staying true to their “fiercely local” mission and commitment to avoid extracts and artificial flavors, the brewers at Maui Brewing Company have created POG IPA with the use of locally-grown (P)assion fruit, (O)range, and (G)uava. To complement these beautiful fruits, a hefty dose of Horizon, El Dorado and Enigma hops were employed to provide this India Pale Ale with a “clean bitterness . . ., tropical juicy aromatics and a slight citrus bite on the finish.”  At 7.1% ABV and 58 IBUs, POG IPA remains a quenching, tropical experience.

“Earlier this spring, when Brewmaster Jesse Houck informed me that we would put POG IPA into cans at the end of the year, I was super stoked. Sourcing enough of the three fruit varieties is the biggest challenge. On top of that, guava has a really short shelf life once picked. It really makes brewing this beer exciting, because all of a sudden when the farmer has the yield we need, it’s GO time!”
