Terrapin Beer Co. Gives New Life to The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA, Introduces Lucille

Walking Dead Blood Orange_Transparent.pngTerrapin Beer Co. (Athens, Georgia) and Skybound have joined forces once again to release not one but two official beers of the undead in 2017, The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA and Lucille Blackstrap Molasses Stout.

When you consider that the majority of The Walking Dead comic book is based in Georgia, much of the TV show is filmed there, and several beers from Terrapin Beer Co. have turned up in multiple episodes since Season 2, it was just a matter of time before the brewery and Skybound partnered to create a Walking Dead-themed craft beer.

Originally released in 22 oz. bottles in 2015 as their first collaboration, The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA returns this year with an updated recipe and new packaging in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans.  The exact details for the “recipe adjustment” are not known, but the brewers promise that they will be “packing more Blood Orange into the beer” this time around.  The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA will officially release in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans in mid-February.

Terrapin Beer Co. and Skybound have also announced that they will be expanding their lineup of Walking Dead beers in 2017 with the introduction of Lucille, a “big and menacing” Imperial Stout inspired by Negan’s weapon of choice.  Brewed with blackstrap molasses and vanilla, Lucille was then properly finished with time spent aging on hickory, maple and white ash – the three woods used to produce baseball bats.  A “super limited” number of 500ml bottles of Lucille Blackstrap Molasses Stout will be released in late February.

Fans of the show/comic book and craft beer can expect to find these offering available for a limited time at craft beer retailers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and throughout the rest of Terrapin’s ever-expanding distribution area.  A word of warning – Like the Walking Dead series, these beers are sure to be incredibly popular.  If you wish to enjoy these beers when the series returns on Sunday, February 12, be sure to secure your bottles as soon as you see them.  Prost!
