Weyerbacher Brewing Set to Release Finally Legal Bourbon Barrel-Aged Stout

finally-legal-4packwithbottle-282x300Weyerbacher Brewing Company (Easton, Pennsylvania) has announced plans to release Finally Legal Bourbon Barrel-aged Stout as a new Special Release offering on Friday, April 7.

Inspired by the fan-favorite 21st Anniversary beer released in June 2016, Weyerbacher Brewing has created Finally Legal to be a bourbon barrel-aged Stout with cocoa and vanilla.  This offering begins with a base recipe consisting of Munich malts, smoked malts, cocoa nibs, cocoa powder and vanilla.  This base Stout is then “blended . . . with its bourbon barrel aged counterpart” to result in a 13.5% ABV offering that “has rich chocolate flavor with hints of vanilla and a touch of smoky bacon.”

Finally Legal will officially debut at a Release Event at The Tap Room at Weyerbacher Brewing on Friday, April 7.  This limited release will then enter distribution shortly thereafter.  You can expect to find Finally Legal in 4-packs of 12 oz. bottles at select craft beer establishments in Florida, Pennsylvania and throughout the rest of Weyerbacher’s distribution area.  Prost!

Heavy Seas Beer Announces 21 as New Anniversary Ale

21.pngHeavy Seas Beer (Baltimore, Maryland) informed their fans today that they will be celebrating 21 years of brewing with the December release of 21 Anniversary Ale.

As the latest offering from the Heavy Seas Uncharted Waters series and a newly incarnated anniversary beer release, 21 Anniversary Ale celebrates this impressive brewing milestone as an Imperial Rye Extra Special Bitter aged in Sagamore Spirit rye whiskey barrels.  The recipe lays a foundation boasting “imported UK Marris Otter malt, Crystal Rye malt, local Domino brown sugar, and a blend of spicy, herbaceous British and American hops.”  Once the brewing process is completed, 21 will then be aged for sixty days in those locally sourced Sagamore Spirit barrels to further support the rye notes featured in this ESB.  The finished beer weighs in at 10.5% ABV and 65 IBUs.

“We wanted to create a synergy between the Rye Whiskey Barrels, the beer, and the consumer, taking him or her on a sensory journey. By incorporating ingredients that mirror and accentuate the flavors of the Whiskey that aged in the barrels first, we’ve developed a beer that speaks to the soul of the Rye fan while satisfying the Heavy Seas enthusiast.”

– Christopher Leonard, Heavy Seas Brewmaster

21 Anniversary Ale officially launches in December as a limited release.  Look for this offering in 22 oz. bottles at select craft beer establishments in Alabama, Florida, and throughout the Heavy Seas distribution footprint.  Prost!
