Cascade Brewing Introduces Primordial Noir 2017

Primordial Noir bottle COLACascade Brewing (Portland, Oregon) has officially released Primordial Noir 2017 as the latest offering to join its lineup of bottles projects.

Developed to serve as “a concentrated precursor to Cascade’s Sang Noir project“, Primordial Noir 2017 (10.5% ABV) is an American Sour Ale comprised of “a blend of imperial red ales aged in bourbon and wine barrels for up to two years with Northwest-grown Bing cherries and spices.”  This treatment comes together to offer a sensory experience that “features a more robust bourbon and cherry presence with notes of roast malt, molasses and baking spices.”

“To make our Sang Noir, we take red wine barrel aged reds, blend them with bourbon barrel aged reds, then add 150 pounds of Bing cherries to each barrel,” explained Tim Larrance, Cascade Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “For Primordial Noir, we chose to skip the red wine aged reds and go straight with the bourbon barrel reds and cherries. The reds shine spectacularly with a balanced cherry flavor.”

Primordial Noir 2017 made its official debut at Cascade’s two Portland-area pubs – the Cascade Brewing Barrel House and The Lodge at Cascade Brewing – on October 19 and is now actively making its way into distribution.  You can expect to find this Tier Two offering available in 500ml bottles and on draft at select craft beer-focused retailers, bars and restaurants located in Alabama, Florida, Oregon and throughout the rest of Cascade Brewing’s worldwide distribution network. Prost!
