Heavy Seas Beer (Baltimore, Maryland) announced this week that Below Decks Barley Wine will make a much anticipated return to shelves and taps in November.
Returning to the brewery’s portfolio for the first time since 2012, Below Decks is an English-style Barleywine coming to us by way of Heavy Seas Beer’s Uncharted Waters Series, a lineup of barrel/wood-aged limited releases that exhibit elevated levels of brewing prowess. Aged for an entire year in red wine barrels, this Barleywine “is opulently rich, malty, and nuanced with notes of dried cherries and subtle oak.” The final beer weighs in at a sizable 12.2% ABV, making it a perfect fireside sipper to enjoy during the holiday months.
The brewery will begin distribution of Below Decks Barley Wine in November. This limited release will be available in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at craft beer establishments in Alabama, Florida and throughout Heavy Seas Beer’s full distribution footprint. This offering will only be available through December (while supplies last), so be sure to grab one to drink fresh and couple more to stash away just in case the beer sees another hiatus next year. Prost!
