Ballast Point Brewing Introduces Manta Ray Double IPA

02-beers-primary-image-mantarayBallast Point Brewing Company (San Diego, California) starts the New Year off in proper fashion with the debut of their newest Year-Round offering, Manta Ray Double India Pale Ale.

Previously brewed as “The Landlord” or “Roots to Boots Double IPA” from the brewery’s R&D program, Ballast Point Brewery has now officially upgraded this Double IPA’s status to become a packaged, Year-Round release under the name Manta Ray.  In true West Coast style, this hop experience is laden with “aromas of fresh, citrusy tangerine, melon and light pine [that] leap from the beer and linger over a smooth finish.”  Ballast Point offers this brew up with one simple warning: “Like its namesake, this brew can sneak up on you – a big ABV (8.5%) without a bite. ”  Wasting absolutely no time, Manta Ray Double IPA has already been named a 2016 Euro Beer Star Gold Medalist.

Manta Ray Double IPA is available now at all Ballast Point Tasting Room locations and will eventually roll out across the country during the month of January 2017.  You can expect to find this offering in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft at fine beer establishments in Alabama, Florida and throughout the rest of Ballast Point’s expansive distribution territory. Hopheads, be sure to take notice of this new release and give Manta Ray DIPA a try in 2017.  Prost!

  • Victory at Sea Imperial Porter with Coffee & Vanilla (Original) – A big porter crafted to weather any storm.  Our Victory at Sea Imperial Porter is a bold, smooth brew with just the right amount of sweetness. We infused this robust porter with vanilla and San Diego’s own Caffé Calabria coffee beans. The subtle roasted notes and minimal acidity of the cold brewed coffee, balances perfectly with the sweet caramel undertones of the malt, creating a winning combination for your palate.  ABV – 10%  IBUs – 60
  • Coconut Victory at Sea Imperial Porter with Coffee, Vanilla & CoconutOur favorite porter with just a touch of the tropics.  This Coconut Victory at Sea takes our popular Imperial Porter to another place.  We added sweet roasted coconut to our robust porter brewed with Caffé Calabria coffee and vanilla, the perfect complement to this beer’s subtle roasty intensity.  A favorite at our annual Victory at Sea Day, but it’s worth enjoying anytime you need to be transported.  ABV – 10%  IBUs – 60
  • Peppermint Victory at Sea Imperial Porter with Coffee, Vanilla & Peppermint – A winning combo of coffee, vanilla & mint.  This Peppermint Victory at Sea is a festive take on our popular Imperial Porter. We took our trademark robust porter brewed with Caffé Calabria coffee and vanilla and added a dose of refreshing peppermint. The trio of flavors play perfectly on your palate – the brew’s sweet roasting balances nicely with a cool, minty finish.  ABV – 10%  IBUs – 60

Ballast Point Brewing Releases Cinnamon Raisin Commodore Stout

cinnraisincommodoreglassBallast Point Brewing (San Diego, California) recently informed their fans on social media that Cinnamon Raisin Commodore American Stout is now available as a new limited release offering.

We started the week with an introduction to an interesting new variant being released by Ballast Point Brewing, and it looks like we will be closing it out with news of another.  Commodore American Stout is the latest year-round beer to get the variant treatment with this version incorporating the additions of cinnamon and raisins to give the beer a kick of dessert-inspired spice.  Commodore Stout got its start in the brewery’s R&D program, and became a surprise, gold-medal winning hit.  In similar fashion, Cinnamon Raisin Commodore came to be as one-off kegs featured exclusively at the brewery’s tasting rooms.  Its dark, bittersweet and roasty malt character supported by “just the right amount of sweet and spice” proved to be another home run with fans, and that made it an easy decision to turn it into Ballast Point’s latest 6-pack.

Cinnamon Raisin Commodore American Stout is a limited release currently only available on draft and in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles at the Ballast Point tasting rooms in the San Diego area.  Although the brewery has not announced plans for wider distribution, it is always possible that a few kegs or cases of this brew could maybe turn up at special events held in the near future within Ballast Point’s distribution area.  Keep your eyes open, remain vigilant, and maybe . . . just maybe . . . we will luck out and get a taste on the East Coast.  Prost!

Bottles of Ballast Point Mocha Marlin Set for Launch

02-beers-primary-image-mochaBallast Point Brewing (San Diego, California) recently announced that they are releasing Mocha Marlin Porter with Coffee and Chocolate as the brewery’s latest limited release offering.

Black Marlin, Ballast Point’s year-round Porter that has earned quite the favorable reputation in a town known for its obsession with IPAs, is finally getting in on the variant action that the brewery has been dabbling with lately.  Mocha Marlin starts with a roasted, chocolaty malt base of an English Porter and then livens things up a bit with the additions of coffee and cocoa.  This results in a 6.0% ABV Porter that is “full-bodied, but not too sweet.”  The brewery suggests you enjoy this one for breakfast, dessert, or anywhere in-between.

Mocha Marlin Porter with Coffee and Chocolate was officially released last week in the brewery’s tasting rooms, and it will start rolling out to Ballast Point’s full distribution area soon.  Look for this one on draft and in 22 0z. bottles at select beer establishments for a limited time. Prost!
