Left Hand Brewing Co. Releases Milk Stout Nitro in Cans

Lefthand-MSN-Can-FrontLeft Hand Brewing Company (Longmont, Colorado) has officially announced the release of Milk Stout Nitro in what is the first ever US production run of a US made nitro widget can.

Fans of Left Hand Brewing Company have been asking for years and now the time has come: Milk Stout Nitro is now in cans.  Yes, it took some time, but the brewery wanted to make sure that they could provide the drinker with a perfect nitro experience before committing to a can and widget design. Patience has paid off because nitro fans can now enjoy “a perfectly smooth and creamy Milk Stout Nitro right from the can.”  While the use of a glass is still recommended, a proper straight-from-the-can experience is now a possibility thanks to some new technology developed by Ball Corporation.  Although Ball had supplied American craft breweries with widget cans in the past, the newly released “Milk Stout Nitro cans are the first being produced in the US” and feature a new widget.  Instead of the ball-shaped device found in other widget cans, the “US widget looks like a small top hat that is adhered to the bottom of the can which provides a consistent nitrogen release from the bottom up.”  This new device “ensures an even and consistent release of nitrogen throughout the beer when opened,” making it the perfect partner for “America’s Stout”.

“Beer fans have been asking for Milk Stout Nitro in a can for years. We have been exploring options for some time with the hopes of being able to someday deliver. We started canning some of our core and seasonal brands last year, but engineering our canning line to produce nitro with the highest quality and finding the right widget to produce the perfect draft-like or Hard Pour bottle experience took some time. So, we are very pleased to now offer beer drinkers, without a stout glass in reach, the ultimate nitro experience with the versatility of a widget can and our award-winning Milk Stout recipe. We hope it makes stout lovers rejoice.”

Left Hand Brewing’s Oktoberfest makes Seasonal Return

oktoberfest1Left Hand Brewing Co. (Longmont, Colorado) recently announced that their Oktoberfest Märzen Lager will be returning to shelves and taps later this week.

In a season that is inundated with Pumpkin Beers these days, Left Hand Brewing Co. goes in a different direction by embracing the rich heritage of the Festbier.  To keep their Oktoberfest true to tradition, the folks at the brewery begin brewing this Märzen Lager in late spring to allow a “full two months for the beer to reach lagered perfection.”  Not cutting any corners, they also employ “a traditional yet time intensive decoction mash process, a multi-step mash,” during the brewing process.  This level of dedication and attention to detail yields a drinking experience with a “toasty sweetness of the malt up front while the noble pedigree hops allow for a dry crisp finish at 6.6% ABV.”

Oktoberfest officially releases in the brewery taproom on August 26 and the rest of Left Hand Brewing’s 37 state distribution footprint follows shortly thereafter.  Look for this offering to be available in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft at craft beer-friendly establishments where you normally find Left Hand offerings.  If you find yourself craving a fine Märzen a time or two this fall, be sure to keep Left Hand Brewing’s Oktoberfest on your short list of beers to give a shot.  Prost!
