Boulevard Brewing Co. Gives New Life to Smooth Fuzz as a Peach Sour Ale

Boulevard Brewing Co. (Kansas City, Missouri) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Smooth Fuzz Peach Sour Ale on August 31, 2020.

Introduced in 2019 as a means of highlighting that year’s apricot season, Smooth Fuzz has returned in 2020 to showcase another fuzzy stone fruit, the peach. Beginning life as a “beautifully complex marriage of two golden saisons aged in wine puncheons, wine barrels, and two foeders,” this rendition of Smooth Fuzz went on to be finished with “a secondary fermentation with 8,000 pounds of fresh peaches, and 8-14 additional months in oak barrels.” Coming in at 7.2% ABV, the “tart and funky, sweet and sticky” Smooth Fuzz Peach Sour Ale “highlights a mixed fermentation character provided by [Boulevard’s] house lactobacillus and brettanomyces cultures.”

Smooth Fuzz Peach Sour Ale is scheduled to debut in the Greater Kansas City Area on Monday, August 31 and expanded distribution will follow shortly after that date. You can expect to find this Limited Release offering available in 750ml bottles and on draft at select craft beer-friendly establishments located in Missouri and other areas located within Boulevard Brewing Co.’s distribution area that typically see Smokestack Series Limited Releases. Prost!
