Stone Brewing Sets Nerd Level to Stun with 2019 Release of Farking Wheaton w00tstout

2019_w00tstout_12ozCan_MockStone Brewing (Escondido, California) has officially announced that its fan-favorite Drew Curtis / Wil Wheaton / Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout is returning to craft beer shelves and taps now for a limited time.

Born as the geek-fueled, beery brainchild of Drew Curtis of FARK.com, “nerd royalty” Wil Wheaton and Stone Brewing co-founder Greg Koch, Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout is an Imperial Stout brewed with pecans, wheat and flaked rye and then “one-quarter aged in bourbon barrels.”  This recipe produces “aromas of cocoa and coffee . . . followed by bourbon, vanilla and oak” alongside up-front flavors of fruit, “cocoa and coffee . . . followed by a punch of oak, vanilla, nut and a hoppy, bitter finish.” Coming in at superhero-sized 11.5% ABV and 45 IBUS, Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout is “a POW! BAM! WHAM! square to the face.”

“W00tstout is more than a great beer,” said actor, writer and Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout collaborator Wil Wheaton. “It’s a work of art, carefully designed to be as drinkable right now as it will be in a decade. I am so honored and proud to be one of its parents.”

“I love love love this beer,” said Greg Koch, Stone Brewing executive chairman & co-founder. “I love the intensity and depth of its flavor profile, and I love how it came together between Drew, Wil, me and our brewing team. And fans have made it clear that they love this beer all the way to the depths of its awesomeness like we do. Yeah, I love that too.”

The name, not the man.) and finished off with pecans and bourbon barrels (a nod to Drew’s home state of Kentucky).  This all results in a 13% ABV Stout that “is a mind-blowing amalgamation of intense yet smooth flavors, perfect for a warm summer evening, a cozy winter’s night or the approaching destruction of the entire human race (be it externally or internally inflicted).”

Stone Brewing Co. releases 2016 edition of Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout

2016_w00tbottle_webStone Brewing Co. (Escondido, California) has announced that the Drew Curtis / Wil Wheaton / Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout is slated for limited release this week.

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen!  This wildly popular, geek-fest of a beer experience has returned for another year (**Disclaimer** That sentence was typed by a geek who is stupidly excited with each year’s release of this beer).  The 2016 version of Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout is the collaborative brainchild of “Stone CEO & self-proclaimed beer geek Greg Koch, Fark.com creator & craft beer-loving Drew Curtis, and web celeb & actor Wil Wheaton.”  This year’s release is a revival of the 2013 recipe of a 13% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with wheat, rye and pecans and then partially aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels.  This combo creates a massive sensory profile boasting aromatic and flavor notes of “cocoa, coffee, licorice, oak, nuts, vanilla and, of course, bourbon.” Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout was then finished off by being packaged in bottles sporting some awesome label artwork created by Amanda Conner, “a famed illustrator celebrated for her characters Vampirella, Power Girl, Silk Spectre and Harley Quinn and comics ‘Gatecrasher’ and ‘Gargoyles’.”

“Each edition of Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout has been a little different, whether it’s adding an ingredient, featuring a new collaborator or bringing in a new comic book artist to design the bottle label,” said Greg Koch. “Hardcore beer fans really loved our 2013 Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout recipe, so in honor of those beer geeks, we’re going back to a good thing. This time the bottle art features Wil, Drew and me in some…well…very clever characterizations.”

Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout is a very limited release available now in 22 oz. bottles and on draft.  You can track this one down at select retailers in Alabama, Florida and other select markets throughout Stone Brewing’s national distribution footprint.  This brew can be enjoyed fresh or aged, so be sure to be sure choose your approach to this one wisely . . . or just grab a couple bottles when see it.  Prost!
