Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, Florida) has officially announced that it will be offering Tampa Bay Beer Week attendees a Barrel-Aged Countdown to Hunahpu’s Day 2018, a series of barrel-aged beer releases spanning from March 5 to March 8.
It pretty much goes without saying that Cigar City Brewing’s Hunahpu’s Day has earned linchpin status when it comes to Tampa Bay Beer Week (TBBW). Hunahpu’s, as a beer and a festival, draws an insane amount of beer enthusiasts to Tampa each year and has done amazing things for the local craft beer community in the process.
Some could argue that Cigar City Brewing really does not need to do much beyond this incredible event during TBBW, but the folks at the brewery certainly will not hear it. They want to do more, and that is why they are introducing the Barrel-Aged Countdown to Hunahpu’s Day 2018. This series of bottle releases will span most of TBBW and will consist of the following unique and incredibly complex barrel-aged beers:
- Monday, March 5 – David Humphreys’ Barrel-aged American Barleywine, aged in Port Bourbon Barrels – $14.99 per 500ml bottle
- Tuesday, March 6 – Barrel-aged Imperial Milk Stout, aged in Bourbon Barrels – $14.99 per 500ml bottle
- Wednesday, March 7 – Madeira Barrel-aged American Barleywine – $14.99 per 500ml bottle
- Thursday, March 8 – Barrel-aged Imperial Stout with Natural Flavors (a.k.a. Mother of All Hunahpu’s Treatments); a Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout brewed with cacao, cinnamon, vanilla, chile peppers and maple – $14.99 per 500ml bottle
These limited release bottles will be available for purchase in Cigar City Brewing’s Tasting Room beginning at 11 a.m. on each beer’s respective release date. Each beer will have a price tag of $14.99 each per 500ml bottle and there will be no bottle limits.
Fair Warning: Do not allow the lack of bottle limits to lull you into a false sense of security when it comes to getting your hands on the beers listed above. These Barrel-Aged Countdown beers will be sought after and they will move quickly. If you have your eye on one (or several) of these beers, just make sure that you turn up at the Tasting Room as close to 11 a.m. as possible on the day of release, be patient, and have a great time with the Cigar City crew and your fellow craft beer fans as you all countdown the days to another memorable Hunahpu’s Day.
