Cascade Brewing (Portland, Oregon) has officially announced that it will release Cuvée du Jongleur (2017) for the first in a decade on November 9.

Originally released in 2008, Cuvée du Jongleur – or “Blend of the Juggler” – is a blended American Sour Ale comprised of “select red, triple and quad sour ales aged in oak barrels for up to three years.”  This latest version of Cuvée du Jongleur – the 2017 project – “pays homage to the original blend, juggling a variety of base beers that offer clean and complex flavors through the lactic fermentation process that has come to define Cascade’s Northwest sour ales.”  Cuvée du Jongleur (2017) comes in at 9.4% ABV.

“When it was originally released, Cuvée du Jongleur was only to be sold in our own brewpub, but since then, it’s become one of the biggest ‘white whales’ in Cascade Brewing’s history,” explained Tim Larrance, Cascade Brewing Vice President. “It was never meant for a national release yet has been sold and traded amongst beer collectors worldwide. We’re excited to make it available once again.”

This batch of Cuvée du Jongleur will officially debut in both of Cascade Brewing’s Portland pubs – the Cascade Brewing Barrel House and The Lodge at Cascade Brewing – on November 9 and enter distribution at or around that date.  You can expect to find this Tier One offering available in 500ml bottles and on draft at select craft beer-friendly establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Oregon and throughout the rest of Cascade Brewing’s nationwide/worldwide distribution network.  Prost!

Cascade-Brewing_Pearpawsterous (Crop)Cascade Brewing (Portland, Oregon) recently announced that Pearpawsterous, a new collaboration project with Upland Brewing Co. (Bloomington, Indiana), has officially been released as the brewery’s latest Tier One offering.

Cascade’s version of Pearpawsterous is available now for a limited time in 750ml bottles and on draft.  If you are interested in giving this one a try, you can find this Tier One offering at both the brewery’s Portland-area pubs and through select Cascade distributors.  Prost!

This latest batch of Cascade Brewing’s Figaro project “is a blend of sour strong blond ales aged in chardonnay barrels for up to 18 months with white figs, lemon peel and orange peel.”  This beer begins as a Strong Blonde Ale that is left to mature in “freshly emptied chardonnay barrels from the Willamette Valley wine region.” After several months, the brewers then add lemon peel, orange peel and dried white figs to each barrel to carefully “allow a slow, steady fruit fermentation to take place.” The beer is then dosed with several more fig additions over a 12-month period, taking on “layer upon layer” of fruit flavor.  Once the barrel process is completed, Figaro 2015 finally comes to be once “the fruited beer is . . . transferred to a stainless steel tank and blended with a small portion of non-fruited sour blond ale until the desired balance of flavors is achieved.”

“The release of Figaro is welcome news to many of our consumers and wholesalers alike due to the fact that we have been out of stock on this item for more than six months,” noted Tim Larrance, VP of Marketing and Sales. “The 2014 release sold out in record time and we fully expect this one to do the same.”
