7venth Sun Brewery (Dunedin & Tampa, Florida) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Bottle Release of Disputed Origins, a Piña Colada Imperial Stout brewed in collaboration with Cultivation Brewing Company (Sarasota, Florida), on June 14.
Named in reference to the many origin stories surrounding the Piña Colada cocktail, Disputed Origins is a Piña Colada-inspired Imperial Stout that boasts additions of pineapple, coconut and vanilla. Although marrying these ingredients with an Imperial Stout may seem “odd” on paper, the 7venth Sun/Cultivation Brewing tag team brew crew assures that Disputed Origins (11.7% ABV) is just “as delicious as the frosty tropical beverage” itself.
Disputed Origins will officially release in 7venth Sun’s Dunedin and Tampa tasting rooms at noon on Friday, June 14. This Limited Release will be available for purchase in bottles to-go and on draft during the event. Disputed Origins is a tasting room exclusive release and is not expected to see distribution. Prost!

Fun Fact – On the history of the Piña Colada: “Puerto Rico is the birthplace of the Piña Colada (strained pineapple in Spanish). The creator of one of the most popular frozen cocktails (it even has its own national holiday – July 10th), is still hotly disputed. It may have been in the early 1800’s by a pirate known as El Pirata Cofresí; he stole from rich merchants and gave the spoils to the poor in Puerto Rico, but the recipe was lost when he was caught and executed. It didn’t resurface again until the 1950’s and there are three other different people and places that claim to have invented it.
