Burial Beer Co. (Asheville, North Carolina) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Evolved From Nothing, a special collaboration project with The Eighth State Brewing Company (Greenville, South Carolina), at noon on Wednesday, September 23.

Heavily inspired by pecan turtle candies and ice cream, Evolved From Nothing is an Imperial Stout “made with a festive spike of Forestry Camp roasted and salted Southern pecans, loads of French Broad Chocolate cocoa nibs, dark caramel sugars and a final helping of Madagascar vanilla bean.” Coming in at 15% ABV, Evolved From Nothing supplies a “big faceful of chocolate praline cake, vanilla bean ice cream with smashed chocolate turtles and pecan pie drizzle.”

Evolved From Nothing – available in 500ml bottles for $20 each – will be available for online presale for pickup at Burial Beer Co.’s Asheville taproom and Raleigh taproom at noon on September 23 (proxies are welcome). 3 Sons Brewing Company (Dania Beach, Florida) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Can Release of West Coast Connect, a West Coast-style Double IPA brewed in collaboration with Resident Culture Brewing Company (Charlotte, North Carolina), on Wednesday, September 23.

Created as an “homage to the era of Pliny where IBU limits were pushed and dank IPAs ruled,” West Coast Connect is a double dry-hopped West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale that offers “notes of Meyer lemon and grapefruit, followed by piney dankness, then [finishes] with layers of mango, pineapple, and a hint of passion fruit.” West Coast Connect clocks in at “a big ol’” 9.5% ABV.

Perrin Brewing Sets Date for Annual Release of Malted Milk Ball

Perrin Brewing Company (Comstock Park, Michigan) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Malted Milk Ball on Thursday, September 24.

Released each year to celebrate the anniversary of the opening of the Perrin Pub, Malted Milk Ball is an Imperial Porter “brewed with lactose and spiced with vanilla and cacao nib” to mimic the flavor profile of “one of [Perrin’s] favorites treats”: the malted milk ball. To give this liquid confection a bit more of an adult flair, Malted Milk Ball (12% ABV) was finished with 9 months of aging in oak Bourbon barrels.

Malted Milk Ball 2020 will hit the Perrin Pub on September 24 and distribution will follow shortly after the on-site release. You can expect to find this Limited Release available in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at select craft beer-focused establishments located in Michigan. Prost!

Heavy Seas Beer Schedules Curbside Can Release of City Sipper Low Cal IPA

Heavy Seas Beer (Baltimore, Maryland) has officially announced that it will hold a Limited Can Release for City Sipper, a low-calorie IPA, during the weekend of September 25, 2020.

What proved to be “a true test of [the Heavy Seas brewing team’s] ability to employ non-traditional brewing techniques and ingredients to create a truly enjoyable, flavorful experience,” City Sipper is a Session India Pale Ale brewed with “malted and flaked oats, torrified and malted wheat, Sabro, Citra, and Simcoe Cryo Lupulin Powder hops, along with just the right amount of fresh Key Lime Juice.” Coming in at just 4% ABV, City Sipper is a “hazy, aromatic crusher” that “has all the flavor of your favorite IPA, without the high calorie count—so you can keep sipping all day!”

“Sometimes you want all of the flavor of an IPA, without the hefty calories,” says Heavy Seas Associate Brand Manager, Amanda Zivkovic. “City Sipper is for the person that wants a lighter option but doesn’t want to compromise the flavor of their beer in the process. Developed to be a sports-drink-inspired take on the brewery’s flagship Loose Cannon IPA, Joose Cannon: Glacier Froot is a Hazy/Juicy India Pale Ale dry-hopped with Citra, Mandarina Bavaria and Simcoe Cryo/Lupulin Powder and then infused with cherry and cranberry juice and strawberry purée. Coming in at 7.25% ABV, Glacier Froot “combines berry and citrus to create an IPA that will quench your thirst on the hottest of days—no electrolytes needed.”

Burial Beer Co. (Asheville, North Carolina) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Bottle Release of A Deranged Meditation of Nonsequitur, an Imperial Stout with Decaf Coffee, Coconut Milk, Macaroon Coconut and Vanilla Bean, on Wednesday, August 19.

Crafted to serve as a study on the nonsensical that somehow still makes sense, A Deranged Meditation of Nonsequitur is Imperial Stout inspired by the Vegan Decaf Latte. The brewers at Burial Beer Co. pulled this off by making their own “in house coconut milk from heavy macaroon coconut and added fresh Madagascar vanilla beans to add a richness that trumps your daily Cappuccino.” The beer was then infused with Summit Coffee Co.’s Decaf Descent coffee beans to add “a gorgeous array of texture that you expect from your full-on diesel fuel coffees.” Coming in at 15% ABV, A Deranged Meditation of Nonsequitur “conjures mindfuls of rich tiramisu, coconut creme pie, mocha frappe and other lust-free bounty.”
