Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Unveils 2020 Beer Release Calendar

Vibrant_P-OceanBrewery release calendar season is in full effect and this week we are here to provide you with a peek at the 2020 Beer Release Calendar from Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware).

Just as we do with all beer calendars around here, we have posted Dogfish Head’s 2020 Beer Release Calendar below for you to peruse at your own convenience.  With that said, Dogfish Head has quite a bit in store for 2020 and there are few items that we feel need some special attention . . . so let’s get at it:

  • Dogfish Head intends to go big in 2020. Like incredibly big.  The brewery plans to “release more than 160 unique products! From a lineup of regional and national beers and scratch-made distilled spirits, to the ever-expanding list of exclusive libations available only at [its] coastal Delaware properties, Dogfish drinkers both near and far can eagerly anticipate the new year to be chock full of off-centered goodness.” **A large amount of these numerous releases will be regional or exclusive to Dogfish Head properties, so be sure to keep an eye on the brewery’s social media accounts for release updates throughout the year.**
  • The brewery’s Year-Round lineup will see the addition of American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA. Inspired by the Grateful Dead’s beloved “American Beauty” album, American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA is an unfiltered India Pale Ale brewed with spelt – an ancient heirloom grain that contributes earthy notes and a natural haze – that’s then dosed with a special yeast variety to accentuate hop aromatics.  ABV – 7%  IBUs – 35
  • Dogfish Head’s Off-Centered Art Series will feature two new releases in 2020: Sun-Day-Feels (May – August), a brunch-inspired, beermosa sour brewed with puréed peaches, wine grapes and a medley of citrus fruit;  and Campfire Amplifier (November – December), a s’mores-centric milk stout brewed with marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate and a touch of smoked malt.  The Perfect Disguise Double IPA (February – April) and Punkin Ale (mid-August – November) will both return to round out the series.
  • The Occasionals Series will see the addition of Vibrant P’Ocean in February. This new offering is “a blended sour brewed in collaboration with Rodenbach Brewery that boasts tart, dry flavors of jammy berries and floral lemon.”  Vibrant P’Ocean will be available through May 2020.
  • Costumes & Karaoke – a complex oat cream ale brewed with turmeric, ginger, yellow cardamom, cinnamon and smoked star anise, and aged on Madagascar vanilla beans – will also join Dogfish Head’s Occasionals Series in November 2020.
  • With all this good news, some bad is sure to follow. In order to make room for all these new releases, brews like NamasteBurton Baton75 Minute IPA and Wood-Aged Bitches Brew will not be available in 2020. Not to worry though . . . Dogfish Head reassures that this is “more of a ‘see you later,’ rather than ‘goodbye.'”

“The announcement of our yearly lineup of releases is always one of my favorite moments of the year, especially since it includes so many creative and still-to-be invented offerings,” says Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione. “While our calendar of nationally-distributed brands is ready to roll, many of our regional and local releases remain in ideation. This allows our talented brewers and distillers, and me, the flexibility to quickly consider whims, hunches, artistic trends and the following of our collective muse to inform our creative journey.”

Those are just a few of the highlights, but there is still plenty of information waiting for you on the calendar below. Give it a look and get ready for the incredible year of off-centered brews headed your way in 2020. Prost!

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Introduces New Off-Centered Art Series Artist with Release of 75 Minute IPA

75minute-stiles-packaging-3_cropDogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) has officially announced that 75 Minute IPA will return in late October 2019 to act as the first release in the brewery’s 2019-2020 Off-Centered Art Series featuring artwork from Dan Stiles.

First introduced back in 2011 as a “twist on the brewery’s classic, continually hopped series,” 75 Minute IPA is an American India Pale Ale “brewed with New England maple syrup, continually hopped throughout the entire boil and dry hopped with a slew of Cascade hops.”  Coming in at 7.5% ABV and 75 IBUs, 75 Minute IPA is a “malty, full-bodied . . . beer with citrusy-pine hop flavors balanced by subtle maple notes.”

This year’s batch of 75 Minute IPA has the distinction of introducing Dan Stiles as the latest collaborating artist in Dogfish Head’s Off-Centered Art Series, “an annual collection of four beers that personifies the creative expression at the intersection of ales and art.” Based out of Portland, Oregon, Dan Stiles is “an acclaimed illustrator and author . . . “[that has] spent 25 years creating visuals for indie bands, global brands and everyone in between.”

Stiles’ vision for this year’s 75 Minute IPA artwork is steampunk-themed and “portrays a man wearing a top hat; an image created entirely by pieces of metalwork commonly seen in a brewery – pipes, cogs, hoses, bolts. In his hand, the character holds a maple leaf and a hop cone to represent the hoppy, maple syrup-infused nectar that is 75 Minute IPA. His only eye beckons to drinkers, daring them to crack open a bottle.”

“Each year, I look forward to watching the visions of our collaborating artists come to life. It’s always astounding to see how well they can integrate their personal styles with our brand’s unique personality to tell the off-centered stories of our beers,” said Sam Calagione, founder of Dogfish Head. “I’m beyond excited and impressed by Dan’s interpretation of 75 Minute IPA. He’s definitely set the bar pretty high for the rest of his Art Series creations – and I can’t wait to see them come to fruition!”

75 Minute IPA is scheduled to release in late October 2019 and this hoppy, maple goodness will stick around through January 2020.  You can expect to find this Limited Release available in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft at select craft beer-friendly spots located in Alabama, Florida, Delaware and throughout the rest of Dogfish Head’s 45-state distribution area.  Prost!

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Reveals 2019 Beer Release Calendar

SuperEIGHT_12ozCan copyConfident that they are headed into their “best year yet”, the folks at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) are backing up that claim with the announcement of their 2019 Beer Release Calendar.

Just as we do with all brewery calendar-related news, we have posted Dogfish Head’s full 2019 Beer Release Calendar below for you to take in on your own.  With that said, we should probably quickly go over just a few of the many noteworthy releases Dogfish Head plans to treat us to in 2019.  Let’s get to it:

  • Liquid Truth Serum IPA will continue to be a Year-Round offering in 2019 and is “coming to 12 oz. cans in addition to the already available 16 oz. cans!”
  • The Perfect Disguise – a “double dry-hopped American IPA brewed with German Chit malt, loaded with tropical flavors and a crisp Kölsch-like finish” – will kick off the 2019 Off-Centered Art Series (February – April).  Dragons & YumYums (April – August), Punkin Ale (Mid-August – November), and 75 Minute IPA (November – January 2020) will all return to round out the Art Series lineup.  All four 2019 Off-Centered Art Series offerings will feature label artwork designed by Michael Hacker.
  • Listed as an “Occasional Release”, American Beauty – a Pale Ale brewed in collaboration with the Grateful Dead – will return in 2019 with Year-Round availability in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles.  **You can read all about this one by clicking here.**
  • Speaking of Occasionals, Raison D’Extra (January – April) and World Wide Stout (May – August) will both be making long-awaited returns in 2019.
  • Arriving as a brand spanking new additional the brewery’s lineup of Occasionals, SuperEIGHT is Dogfish Head’s “sessionable gose brewed with eight super ingredients: prickly pear, mango, boysenberry, blackberry, raspberry, elderberry, kiwi juices, toasted quinoa and an ample addition of red Hawaiian sea salt! Okay, so technically that’s nine, but it ‘gose’ without say that there’s going to be salt.”
  • Unfortunately, sacrifices had to be made to accommodate the beers above and that means that we will not be seeing Indian BrownFestina PêchePennsylvania Tuxedo and Romantic Chemistry IPA in 2019.

That wraps up just about everything we wanted to cover, but there are still quite a few exciting brews left for you to find on the calendar below.  Soak it all in and start getting yourself prepared for all the Off-Centered goodness headed your way in 2019.  Prost!

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Announces Limited Return of 75 Minute IPA

DFH75MinuteDogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) is officially introducing a new artist and beer lineup for its Off-Centered Art Series with the return of 75 Minute IPA in October.

75 Minute IPA – a name that references the combination of 60 Minute IPA and 90 Minute IPA, “two Dogfish innovations in continual hopping” – is a “classic” India Pale Ale brewed with “maple syrup from Sam Calagione’s (founder and CEO of Dogfish Head) family farm, . . . continually hopped during the entire boil, and then dry hopped with a slew of cascade hops.”  Fittingly coming in at 7.5% ABV and 75 IBUs, 75 Minute IPA offers a sensory experience that is “malty and earthy with citrusy-piney notes, balanced with subtle maple notes.”

This release of 75 Minute IPA will also be wearing some new label artwork now that Michael Hacker, a talented freelance artist, has taken over the brewery’s Off-Centered Art Series, “a lineup of four beers representing the creative expression that occurs at the intersection of ales and art, featuring a new illustrator each year.”  Hacker’s Off-Centered Art Series illustrations “will roll out over the next 18 months and include: 75 Minute IPA, The Perfect Disguise (8%) – an American double dry-hopped IPA disguised as a Kölsch, Dragons & YumYums (6.5%) – a lip smackingly tropical pale ale, and Punkin Ale (7%) – a full bodied brown ale brewed with real pumpkin.”

“Creative beer labels have become a fun focal point of the craft beer scene, defining brands and bringing beers to life through visuals,” said Calagione. “Since 2008, we’ve been collaborating with wildly inventive illustrators from around the world, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue the tradition with our friend, Michael Hacker, as we visually share new stories about our inventive beers.”

75 Minute IPA is hitting distribution now and is scheduled to stick around through December 2018.  You can expect to find this Limited Release available in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft at craft beer-friendly establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Delaware and throughout the rest of Dogfish Head’s distribution territory.  Prost!

Fun Fact – On the label artwork: “The Off-Centered Art Series artist, Michael Hacker, created the artwork for the beers. A talented freelance illustrator, Hacker finds inspiration for his Art Series illustrations by learning the unique and compelling stories behind each beer, then bringing them to life visually in his own style. Since 75 Minute IPA is a combination of two Dogfish innovations in continual hopping – 60 Minute IPA and 90 Minute IPA – Hacker wanted to artfully portray the brewing process with Calagione as the original mad scientist of the early craft beer movement. His imaginative style incorporates a few hidden gems, including a “funny glasses” disguise that was part of the original Johnny Cask packaging artwork.”
