Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Reveals 2019 Beer Release Calendar

SuperEIGHT_12ozCan copyConfident that they are headed into their “best year yet”, the folks at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) are backing up that claim with the announcement of their 2019 Beer Release Calendar.

Just as we do with all brewery calendar-related news, we have posted Dogfish Head’s full 2019 Beer Release Calendar below for you to take in on your own.  With that said, we should probably quickly go over just a few of the many noteworthy releases Dogfish Head plans to treat us to in 2019.  Let’s get to it:

  • Liquid Truth Serum IPA will continue to be a Year-Round offering in 2019 and is “coming to 12 oz. cans in addition to the already available 16 oz. cans!”
  • The Perfect Disguise – a “double dry-hopped American IPA brewed with German Chit malt, loaded with tropical flavors and a crisp Kölsch-like finish” – will kick off the 2019 Off-Centered Art Series (February – April).  Dragons & YumYums (April – August), Punkin Ale (Mid-August – November), and 75 Minute IPA (November – January 2020) will all return to round out the Art Series lineup.  All four 2019 Off-Centered Art Series offerings will feature label artwork designed by Michael Hacker.
  • Listed as an “Occasional Release”, American Beauty – a Pale Ale brewed in collaboration with the Grateful Dead – will return in 2019 with Year-Round availability in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles.  **You can read all about this one by clicking here.**
  • Speaking of Occasionals, Raison D’Extra (January – April) and World Wide Stout (May – August) will both be making long-awaited returns in 2019.
  • Arriving as a brand spanking new additional the brewery’s lineup of Occasionals, SuperEIGHT is Dogfish Head’s “sessionable gose brewed with eight super ingredients: prickly pear, mango, boysenberry, blackberry, raspberry, elderberry, kiwi juices, toasted quinoa and an ample addition of red Hawaiian sea salt! Okay, so technically that’s nine, but it ‘gose’ without say that there’s going to be salt.”
  • Unfortunately, sacrifices had to be made to accommodate the beers above and that means that we will not be seeing Indian BrownFestina PêchePennsylvania Tuxedo and Romantic Chemistry IPA in 2019.

That wraps up just about everything we wanted to cover, but there are still quite a few exciting brews left for you to find on the calendar below.  Soak it all in and start getting yourself prepared for all the Off-Centered goodness headed your way in 2019.  Prost!

Dogfish Head Introduces Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout

oavwws-ingredients-9Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) has officially announced the release of Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout as the brewery’s newest Limited Release offering.

The newly released Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout arrives as a revamped take on the fan-favorite World Wide Stout.  Starting with the original, 18-year-old recipe that boasts “a ridiculous amount of barley”, the brewers at Dogfish Head then added a fresh layer of complexity by aging the Stout in “real 10,000 gallon oak tanks with heaps of [whole Madagascar] vanilla beans.”  This treatment produces a 16% ABV Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout that possesses “a wonderfully authentic tapestry of roasted malty, toasted vanilla flavors with subtle coffee notes.”

“When we first began brewing World Wide Stout at our brewpub back in the winter of 1999, the first batch sold out in less than a week – and nearly 18 years later the response has continued to be amazing,” said Sam Calagione, founder and CEO of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. “At Dogfish, our raison d’être is to expand the boundaries of the typical beer experience by creating innovative beers made from fresh ingredients, so we decided to take a new spin on our popular stout by adding tons of whole Madagascar vanilla beans to the recipe. The addition of the beans enhances the coffee and chocolatey notes in the beer which we think our fans will enjoy.”

Today’s press release from the brewery declares that Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout has officially shipped out to distributors.  You can expect to find this Limited Release brew available in 4-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft at select craft beer establishments located in Florida, Delaware and throughout the rest of Dogfish Head’s distribution network (unfortunately, this does not include Alabama and any other state where this Stout exceeds ABV restrictions).  Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout will not last long once it hits shelves, so be sure to keep a keen eye out for this brew while out on your next beer run.  Prost!

Fun Fact – On aging Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout: ““’Like Fort and 120 Minute IPA, Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout only gets better in its golden years. With aging, you’ll find the heat of the booze fades into the background and the port notes and vanilla roastiness takes over,’ said Calagione. ‘Grab a few bottles, enjoy one now and lay the others down for a few years.'”

Dogfish Head Goes Dark Side with Release of Beer for Breakfast and World Wide Stout

dfhb4b1Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) has announced that they will officially release Beer for Breakfast Stout and World Wide Stout as limited offerings beginning on Monday, November 7.

To celebrate the 21st year of brewing Chicory Stout (the first beer brewed at Dogfish Head’s pub when it opened in 1995), the folks at the brewery have decided to trick this old favorite out with a little culinary influence this year and create Beer for Breakfast.  This new release is a full-bodied Stout that has been brewed with RAPA Scrapple, “a classic Mid-Atlantic staple to the most important meal of the day . . . affectionately described as an ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ type of meat as it’s a patty made from pork scraps, cornmeal and spices.”  Coffee, brown sugar and maple syrup join the scrapple to provide craft beer fans with a breakfast-themed brew boasting “notes of coffee and smoke, subtle maple and spice.”  Beer for Breakfast weighs in at 7.4% ABV and 30 IBUs.

“The recipe for our original breakfast beer Chicory Stout, just turned 21 this year.  Legal drinking age.  To mark this momentous occasion, we have taken a couple decades experience brewing with culinary goodness and combined our favorite pure, all-natural breakfast ingredients into a beer that we will think you will agree is the most important meal of the day,” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head founder and president.

dfhwws2If news of Beer for Breakfast’s release is not enough to get you excited for Stout Season, the always impressive behemoth known as World Wide Stout will be joining that offering in a November that Dogfish Head appears to be dedicating to “dark beer aficionados.”  World Wide Stout first debuted back in the winter of 1999, and this 15-20% ABV Imperial Stout has been wowing craft beer fans ever since.  With a “depth more in line with a fine port or a rich madeira,” this is a Stout that is truly meant for sipping and sharing.  World Wide Stout can be enjoyed fresh, but patience will serve you incredibly well here because this beer ages beautifully.

“Like Fort and 120 Minute IPA, World Wide Stout only gets better in its golden years. Allow it to mature in your beer cellar and you’ll find the heat of the booze fades into the background and the port notes and roastiness take over and merge harmoniously into a timeless aged ale”, said Calagione.

Beer for Breakfast Stout and World Wide Stout will both begin hitting shelves and taps as limited release offerings on November 7.  Beer for Breakfast Stout will be available in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft through the month of December.  World Wide Stout will see availability in 4-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft while supplies last.  Both beers will be available at select craft beer retailers found in Florida and throughout Dogfish Head’s full distribution footprint.  The best strategy to employ here is to grab a few bottles of World Wide Stout to stash away for aging and pick up a sixer or two of Beer for Breakfast to make that aging/waiting process a bit more bearable.  Prost!
