Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Set to Release Super Sessionable SuperEIGHT Gose

SuperEIGHT_12ozCan copyDogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) has officially announced that SuperEIGHT Super Gose will join the brewery’s portfolio of “Occassionals” in April.

Developed by Dogfish Head to be a “SUPER beer specifically designed for active lifestyle enthusiasts interested in incorporating high-quality ingredients in their beer choices”, SuperEIGHT is a Gose-style ale “made with eight heroic ingredients including prickly pear, mango, boysenberry, blackberry, raspberry, elderberry, kiwi juices and a touch of quinoa, along with an ample addition of Hawaiian sea salt.”  Packed with the “powerful goodness of all-natural fruits”, the “vibrant red” SuperEIGHT (5.3% ABV) possesses a “slightly tart taste and pleasantly refreshing finish, with delicious flavors of berries and watermelon.”

“We’re comin’ at ya with so much juicy flavor with the latest release of our new Gose, SuperEIGHT,” said Sam Calagione, founder and CEO of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. “With the meteoric success of SeaQuench Ale growing to be the best selling sour beer in America,* we learned from consumers that approachable, refreshing, super-flavorful beers are what they’re seeking when making choices about beverages. We’re listening, we heard you, and we think you’re going to love our wildly delicious SuperEIGHT.”

SuperEIGHT will officially launch in April and is scheduled to hang around through December 2019.  You can expect to find this Occasional Release available in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft at select craft beer-friendly establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Delaware and throughout the rest of Dogfish Head’s distribution area.  Prost!

Vital Information for SuperEIGHT Super Gose from Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

Fun Fact – “Dogfish Head ‘developed’ the inspiration for this beer with friends from Kodak. In 2018, Calagione joined Kodak, a world-class technology company, to record an episode of their podcast The Kodakery, discussing analog processes in the digital age. During the podcast, Calagione learned that the heightened levels of acidity and vitamin C in certain beers could make them an ideal processing agent for film. As luck would have it, the Dogfish R&D team was working to create a new beer that had a similar profile and unique ingredient bill to the liquid needed for developing film. BOOM! Just like that … SuperEIGHT was born and specifically designed to process KODAK Super 8 Film. Early batches of the beer were sent to Kodak to begin development. A series of tests were done, and they successfully proved that SuperEIGHT can act as a film developer. So what’s next? Calagione is planning an epic, Dogfish Port-to-Port boat trip up this East coast this summer. He’ll be documenting part of his adventure on Super 8 Film which will be developed in SuperEIGHT beer and turned it into a short film. More details on the Port-to-Port trip will be announced on Earth Day, April 22.”

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Reveals 2019 Beer Release Calendar

SuperEIGHT_12ozCan copyConfident that they are headed into their “best year yet”, the folks at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) are backing up that claim with the announcement of their 2019 Beer Release Calendar.

Just as we do with all brewery calendar-related news, we have posted Dogfish Head’s full 2019 Beer Release Calendar below for you to take in on your own.  With that said, we should probably quickly go over just a few of the many noteworthy releases Dogfish Head plans to treat us to in 2019.  Let’s get to it:

  • Liquid Truth Serum IPA will continue to be a Year-Round offering in 2019 and is “coming to 12 oz. cans in addition to the already available 16 oz. cans!”
  • The Perfect Disguise – a “double dry-hopped American IPA brewed with German Chit malt, loaded with tropical flavors and a crisp Kölsch-like finish” – will kick off the 2019 Off-Centered Art Series (February – April).  Dragons & YumYums (April – August), Punkin Ale (Mid-August – November), and 75 Minute IPA (November – January 2020) will all return to round out the Art Series lineup.  All four 2019 Off-Centered Art Series offerings will feature label artwork designed by Michael Hacker.
  • Listed as an “Occasional Release”, American Beauty – a Pale Ale brewed in collaboration with the Grateful Dead – will return in 2019 with Year-Round availability in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles.  **You can read all about this one by clicking here.**
  • Speaking of Occasionals, Raison D’Extra (January – April) and World Wide Stout (May – August) will both be making long-awaited returns in 2019.
  • Arriving as a brand spanking new additional the brewery’s lineup of Occasionals, SuperEIGHT is Dogfish Head’s “sessionable gose brewed with eight super ingredients: prickly pear, mango, boysenberry, blackberry, raspberry, elderberry, kiwi juices, toasted quinoa and an ample addition of red Hawaiian sea salt! Okay, so technically that’s nine, but it ‘gose’ without say that there’s going to be salt.”
  • Unfortunately, sacrifices had to be made to accommodate the beers above and that means that we will not be seeing Indian BrownFestina PêchePennsylvania Tuxedo and Romantic Chemistry IPA in 2019.

That wraps up just about everything we wanted to cover, but there are still quite a few exciting brews left for you to find on the calendar below.  Soak it all in and start getting yourself prepared for all the Off-Centered goodness headed your way in 2019.  Prost!
