Nemesis Returns to Launch Founders Brewing Co.’s New Bottle Shop Series

Founders Brewing Co. (Grand Rapids, Michigan) has officially announced that it will begin the nationwide Limited Release of Nemesis, the first release in the brewery’s newly established Bottle Shop Series, in early April 2021.

Originally released in 2010 as the blue label offering in Founders Brewing Co.’s short-lived Nemesis Series and now back to launch the brewery’s Bottle Shop Series that serves as “a tribute to the folks who supported ragtag brewers across the country when craft beer was in its infancy,” Nemesis is an American-style Barleywine “brewed with roasted malts and no shortage of hops for a pleasantly bitter, booming flavor.” Coming in at an imposing 11.2% ABV, Nemesis “pours with a slight and subtle mahogany hue and a multitude of flavors that melt on your tongue – this is one Nemesis you’ll feel good about keeping around.”

“This is a beer we first brewed back in 2010 – it was Nemesis with the blue label. Extreme beers were all the rage and I was really just looking to create something that I hadn’t seen done before,” said Founders Brewmaster, Jeremy Kosmicki. “For this one, I was targeting sort of a hybrid between a Barleywine and an Imperial Stout – less roasted malt than you’d expect in a stout but just enough to turn the color dark and add another layer of complexity to an already deep disposition of flavors. I thought it would be a fun way to kick off the Bottle Shop Series – with a blast from the past and a tribute to everyone who helped launch the era of extreme beer!”

Nemesis is available now in Founders Brewing Co.’s Grand Rapids and Detroit taprooms and is scheduled to enter nationwide distribution on April 1. You can expect to find this Limited Release available in 4-packs of 12 oz. bottles at select craft beer-friendly establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Michigan and throughout the rest of the brewery’s nationwide distribution network. Founders Brewing Co. Adds All Day Vacay to Seasonal Lineup

Founders Brewing Co. (Grand Rapids, Michigan) has officially announced that All Day Vacay will join the brewery’s Seasonal portfolio in April 2021.

Arriving as the “first line extension from the original session IPA – All Day IPA – in Founders Brewing Co. history,” All Day Vacay is an American Wheat Ale “that packs in flavor; stone fruit and tropical hop aromas combine with citrus and slight bready notes, to finish with moderate sweetness and a soft, refreshing mouthfeel.” Coming in at a super sessionable 4.6% ABV, All Day Vacay is “the perfect companion for any type of adventure.”

“We are continually looking for interesting and unique beer alternatives for different occasions. All Day IPA was a real game changer for us at Founders,” said President and Co-Founder, Dave Engbers. “We all love spending time outdoors, so we challenged ourselves to find a light, refreshing and delicious wheat extension to the All Day franchise. With all our brands, it’s about balance. Finding the right combination of malted barley and specialty grains balanced with the bitterness and aroma of hops is truly the artistry of creating a great beer.”

“I was really thinking about flavors that capture the essence of summertime, the beach and vacations in general,” said Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki. “In the spirit of original All Day, Vacay would have to be perfectly well-balanced and completely refreshing.  A light, crisp body for easy drinking, low hop bitterness and a generous amount of wheat malt to keep it soft on the palate and hints of citrus to brighten up the whole experience.”

All Day Vacay is set to debut in April and will hang around through September 2021. You can expect to find this new Seasonal offering available in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans, 15-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft at select craft beer-friendly establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Michigan and throughout the rest of Founders Brewing Co.’s nationwide distribution network. “Shaking things up a bit is somewhat of the norm at Founders,” said Co-Founder and President Dave Engbers. “It’s not just taking the path less chosen – it’s bushwhacking a new trail altogether. This years’ brand calendar has us exploring multiple new styles, revisiting some of our favorite beers from the past, highlighting those who truly helped define our industry and jumping headfirst into the hard seltzer category – approaching it all with the fury only craft brewers like us know by highlighting real fruit flavor and quality above all else. It’s going to be a great year.”

Alrighty . . . that should cover everything we wanted to point out, but there is still plenty for you to discover on the calendar below. Give it a look and get ready for another fun year of beer with Founders Brewing Co. in 2021. Prost!

Blushing Monk Rejoins Founders Brewing Co.’s Limited Lineup

Founders Brewing Co. (Grand Rapids, Michigan) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Blushing Monk in December 2020.

An infrequent but fan-favorite release from Founders Brewing Co., Blushing Monk is a Belgian-style Strong Ale “brewed with a ridiculous amount of raspberries for tart yet luscious raspberry-jam character and fermented with Belgian yeast for subtle fruit and spice esters.” Incredibly easy-drinking for 9.2% ABV, Blushing Monk is “an intense and delicious example of a Founders fruit beer.”

“Some of us have been around Founders long enough to remember the first time we bottled Blushing Monk back in the early 2000s,” said Brewmaster, Jeremy Kosmicki. “I remember it vividly because it was all hand packaged on a two-headed counter pressure filler and it took several days of around-the-clock action to get it done. These days, things are a bit more streamlined, but I still feel nostalgic whenever we decide to brew this huge raspberry ale.”

Blushing Monk is scheduled to return in early December 2020 and will stick around through March 2021. You can expect to find this Limited Release available in 4-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft at select craft beer-friendly establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Michigan and throughout the rest of Founders Brewing Co.’s nationwide distribution network. Founders Brewing Co. Adds Moon Rambler IPA to Seasonal Lineup

Founders Brewing Co. (Grand Rapids, Michigan) has announced that Moon Rambler IPA will officially join its Seasonal lineup in early November 2020.

Originally introduced in Founders Brewing Co.’s taproom locations under the name Cow Jumped the Shark, Moon Rambler is a Milkshake-style India Pale Ale brewed with oats and wheat, hopped with Azacca, Mosaic and Cascade hops for “a blast of tropical fruitiness,” and dosed with milk sugar. Clocking in at 6.4% ABV, Moon Rambler IPA boasts “a sweet yet slight creaminess, giving it a round mouthfeel, remarkably less bitter taste and a fuller body than your typical IPA.”

“When it comes to beers, milk sugar has traditionally been used to sweeten up heavier offerings like stouts and porters,” said Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki. “With Moon Rambler IPA, we added some milk sugar to balance the bitterness and accentuate the fruity hop character. Brewed with oats, wheat and featuring Azacca, Cascade and Mosaic hops, Moon Rambler IPA is still a full-fledged IPA, just with a softer and sweeter side.”

Moon Rambler IPA is set to release in early November 2020 and is scheduled to hang around through March 2021. Weighing in at 12% ABV, KBS Espresso “is a fresh and extra-snappy coffee twist on the brewery’s classic barrel-aged beer.”
