Rogue Breaks Out the Peppermint Bark for 2020 Santa’s Private Reserve

Rogue Ales (Newport, Oregon) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of the 2020 edition of its Santa’s Private Reserve, a Peppermint Bark Milk Stout, in November.

Brewed to be the “full package and . . . to brighten up even the worst days of winter,” this year’s Santa’s Private Reserve is a Milk Stout that has been dosed with “refreshing peppermint and velvety dark chocolate [to] taste like the holidays in a glass.” Coming in at 8.34% ABV, Santa’s Private Reserve is a “rich and warm stout [that] is a confectioner’s dream and a must for any holiday celebration.”

“Santa’s vision for this year’s Private Reserve came to him in the candy cane forest where he was busy harvesting peppermint bark to make one of his favorite treats,” says Rogue Brewmaster, Joel Shields. “He called us and ecstatically blurted out, ‘Peppermint bark milk stout!’ We knew exactly what he meant and got right to work brewing up our 2020 Santa’s Private Reserve. Santa was elated with the results, and we think you will be too.”

“I always look forward to my annual trip to Newport, Oregon to brew our annual Santa’s Private Reserve,” says Santa Claus. “This year’s Peppermint Bark Milk Stout is a real treat that pairs perfectly with my favorite sugar cookies.”

The 2020 installment of Santa’s Private Reserve is rolling out this month and is scheduled to hang around through December. You can expect to find this Limited Release available in 750ml bottles and on draft at select craft beer-focused establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Oregon and throughout the rest of Rogue’s nationwide distribution area. Rogue Ales Releases 2019 Edition of Santa’s Private Reserve

Santa's_2019_22oz_BottleRogue Ales (Newport, Oregon) has officially announced that the 2019 vintage of Santa’s Private Reserve Strong Ale will be coming to town in November.

Released each Holiday Season with a new gift added to the recipe each year, the 2019 Santa’s Private Reserve is a Strong Ale uniquely brewed with candy cap mushrooms – “a highly-prized, edible, maple-flavored fungi.” If you happen to be unfamiliar with this magical ingredient, candy cap mushrooms “are one of the only sweet mushroom varieties and are commonly used in breads, cakes and custards.”  Coming in at 8.1% ABV, Santa’s Private Reserve features “a deep maple flavor and aroma,” honey notes from the chosen malts, and “a touch of citrus from Rogue Farms grown Cascade hops.”

“Santa recently paid us a visit at our Newport, Oregon headquarters and brought along freshly foraged candy cap mushrooms,” said Rogue Innovation Brewer Michael King. “We, being curious, decided to try our hand at a mushroom beer. The result: a deliciously sweet, strong ale that is certain to bring the holiday cheer.”

“People say that Santa Claus loves milk and cookies, but we heard from Santa himself that after tasting Santa’s Private Reserve, he is actually a bigger fan of beer and cookies,” adds King. “Santa told us that this festive beer hits the spot during his busiest time of year.”

This year’s batch of Santa’s Private Reserve is rolling out now and will hang around only as long as supplies last. You can expect to find this Limited Release available in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at select craft beer-focused establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Oregon and throughout the rest of Rogue’s distribution area.  Prost!

Rogue Ales Gets in the Holiday Spirit with Release of Santa’s Private Reserve (2018)

Rogue Ales (Newport, Oregon) has officially announced the Limited Release of the 2018 vintage of Santa’s Private Reserve.

Brewed specifically to put a smile on Santa’s face this holiday season, the 2018 release of Santa’s Private Reserve is a Belgian-style Dark Ale that has been tweaked this year to include tangerines and boysenberries. This fruit-laden approach supplies a holly jolly experience that combines “spicy Belgian yeast and roasty malts with the tartness from boysenberries and tangerines [to capture] the flavors of the season.”  Weighing in at 7.9% ABV, Santa’s Private Reserve (2018) “is best when enjoyed with friends, family and reindeer.”

“This year we wanted to be bold and different,” says Rogue Brewmaster John Maier. “So I brewed old St. Nick a Belgian-style beer with a Rogue twist and put his jolly face on the bottle.”

“It’s the perfect beer to drink while double-checking a certain list,” says Claus.

Santa’s Private Reserve (2018) is rolling out now with plans to hang around through December.  You can expect to find this Limited Release available in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at select craft beer and Santa-friendly retailers, bars and restaurants located in Alabama, Florida, Oregon and throughout the rest of Rogue’s nationwide distribution area.  Prost!

Rogue Ales Spreads Holiday Cheer with Release of Santa’s Private Reserve

santas2017Overcome with holiday spirit, Rogue Ales (Newport, Oregon) has officially announced the limited release of Santa’s Private Reserve (2017).

To give Santa a bit of a break from the dairy this month, the brewers at Rogue Ales are supplying Saint Nick with a more adult option in the newly reformulated Santa’s Private Reserve.  Previously released as a “double-hopped” Amber Ale, this special holiday brew is now a “Belgian Strong Ale made with cherries, raspberries, Belgian Candi sugar and Imperial Gnome Yeast.” This ultimately yields an 7.8% ABV Santa’s Private Reserve that “delivers a delicious sweet and tart flavor.”

“I love what John and I came up with,” said Santa. “The Candi sugar enhances the sweet and tart characteristics of the raspberries and cherries, and the beer takes a little bit from both sides of the list: it will put a little color on your cheeks, but finishes on the sweet side.”

Santa’s Private Reserve (2017) is officially available now and will hang around through the holiday season.  You can expect to find this Limited Release available in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at craft beer establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Oregon and throughout the rest of Rogue’s nationwide distribution footprint.  Prost!
