Cigar City Brewing Marches Marshal Zhukov’s Out for Annual Release

zhukovmock-current-view-1-e1539715897323.pngCigar City Brewing (Tampa, Florida) has announced that Marshal Zhukov’s Russian Imperial Stout will officially hit distribution as a Limited Release in November, but beer lovers in Tampa can get a first taste of this year’s batch now in the brewery’s Tasting Room.

Brewed as an homage to “arguably one of the finest generals of World War II”, Marshal Zhukov’s is a Russian Imperial Stout that is “opaque black in color, with notes of espresso, chocolate, dark toffee and hints of blackstrap molasses.” Finding balance with a “subtle herbal dryness” sourced from English hop varietals, the formidable Marshal Zhukov’s (11.2% ABV) “finishes with a hearty slap of roasty espresso.”

Marshal Zhukov’s is available now – in bottles and on draft – in Cigar City’s Tasting Room and is expected to enter full distribution in November 2018.  You can expect to find this Special Release in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at craft beer-focused establishments located in Alabama, Florida and throughout the rest of Cigar City’s distribution footprint.  Prost!

lokocuisinelogoOn Sunday, August 19 at 11 a.m., LOKO Cuisine will once again take over The Fermentorium at Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, Florida) to host Marshal Zhukov’s Barrel-Aged Eggs & Kegs, an annual celebration of the brewery’s fan-favorite Russian Imperial Stout.

Cigar City Brewing may have moved the official release date for Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout to November but that is not going to stop LOKO Cuisine from honoring this highly-decorated offering one last time in August.  With the atmosphere properly set with the “obligatory hardcore Red Army choir anthems”, Marshal Zhukov’s Barrel-Aged Eggs & Kegs will feature the following four-course, Russian-style brunch menu:

Since the 2018 edition of Marshal Zhukov’s will not be available at the time of this event, the good folks at Cigar City Brewing will be pulling the following two brews from their cellar to serve as the perfect pairings for this “hearty brunch fit for a general”:

All attendees will receive one beer ticket “good for any pint or snifter of equal value.” If you would like a beverage other than beer, Ginger Beard Coffee will also be on-site with nitro-infused coffee and tea on tap (coffee & tea not included in ticket cost).

Tickets for Marshal Zhukov’s Barrel-Aged Eggs & Kegs are available now for $32.10 each, and you can purchase yours by clicking here. Ticket cost includes the four-course brunch and one pour of beer (pint or snifter of equal value). Physical tickets will not be issued, but your name will be added to a paid list once the purchase process is completed. FYI: Everyone in your party will have to check in under the purchaser’s name at the door.

This event will sell out.  It always does.  You want to be in attendance.  Now that you are armed with this knowledge, just go ahead and secure your tickets now to avoid missing out on the delicious food, decadent beers and ridiculously good times that will be shared at this year’s Marshal Zhukov’s Barrel-Aged Eggs & Kegs.  Prost!

Cigar City Brewing Prepares for Red Banner Release of Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout

unnamed (8)On Tuesday, August 1 at 11 a.m., Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, Florida) will celebrate the annual release of Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout by hosting Red Banner Day 2017.

Each year, the good people at Cigar City Brewing honor Georgy Zhukov, arguably one of the finest generals of World War II, with the release Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout.  With “notes of espresso, chocolate, dark toffee and hints of blackstrap molasses”, this “monolithic” Imperial Stout has impressed craft beer lovers the world over by being “fudge-like without being cloying, roasty without being acrid, and built to develop further complexity over time when properly cellared.”

Although this beer will see distribution throughout Cigar City Brewing’s full distribution area, the brewery will properly recognize the release of Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout with Red Banner Day 2017 on August 1.  Not only will this event act as your first opportunity to try this year’s vintage on draft, you will also be able to purchase an “unlimited quantity” of Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout in 22 oz. bottles.

Although Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout is more than capable of carrying an event on its own, Red Banner Day 2017 will feature much more than just one beer.  To start, this event will also act as the first release of Cognac Barrel-aged Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout.  Short in supply, this “barrel-aged masterpiece . . .  balances its espresso-like roastiness with a soft licorice-like sweetness and pronounced vanilla from extensive aging in French oak.”  Cognac Barrel-aged Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout will not see distribution, and will only be available for purchase on draft and in 750ml bottles in the Cigar City Brewing Tasting Room. The brewery expects this offering to sell out quickly and has set a limit of two (2) bottles per person.

In addition to Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout and Cognac Barrel-aged Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout, Cigar City Brewing also plans to tap “numerous specialty treatments” of Marshal Zhukov’s throughout Red Banner Day.  Throw in the fact that Cigar City will have a food truck on site all day, and now you have an event that truly has everything you could possibly need to properly enjoy a stout-laden day at the brewery.

Stout lovers, Red Banner Day 2017 is guaranteed to be an epic-level event and you will experience some serious regrets if you miss this one.  Don’t be that guy or gal left lamenting the day after.  Do what you must and join us at Red Banner Day so that we can raise a collective toast to the return of Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout.  We hope to see you all there.  Prost!
