Cigar City Brewing Enters 2019 with Special Release of White Oak Jai Alai

Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, Florida) has announced that White Oak Jai Alai has officially returned for a limited time as a Special Release.

Released occasionally as a unique riff on Cigar City Brewing’s iconic Jai Alai IPA, White Oak Jai Alai takes that flagship India Pale Ale and hits it with an “addition of white oak spirals to impart sleek notes of vanilla, coconut and a touch of dill to Jai Alai’s bold citrus and caramel character.” The oak adds further complexity by tempering “the bitterness in the 70 IBU base beer while oak tannins elegantly dry the beer’s body to create a unique drinking experience that still remains true to Jai Alai’s unique qualities.”

White Oak Jai Alai officially hit the Cigar City Brewing Tasting Room on December 27 and is scheduled to roll out “throughout most of [the brewery’s] distribution network in the coming weeks.” You can expect to find this Special Release available in 4-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft at craft beer-friendly establishments in Florida and other select territories located within Cigar City Brewing’s distribution area. LOKO Cuisine Teams up with Homes for our Troops for Caribeque Eggs & Kegs

On Sunday, January 21 at 11 a.m., LOKO Cuisine will return to Cigar City Brewing (3924 W. Spruce St, Tampa, Florida) to host a special Caribeque Eggs & Kegs that will benefit Homes for our Troops.

For this edition of Eggs & Kegs, the folks at LOKO Cuisine are using their platform to help raise awareness for Homes for our Troops – a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post – 9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives. While at this event, attendees will have the chance to participate in “a raffle with some sweet prizes from local businesses that will directly 100% benefit Homes for our Troops Florida recipients.”

As far as the grub goes, this Eggs & Kegs menu will be comprised of the following five-course, BBQ-themed brunch featuring seasonings and sauces from Caribeque Seasoning and Rub Co.:

Cigar City Brewing will be showcasing White Oak Jai Alai IPA as the featured pairing for the meal above. Attendees will receive one drink ticket that is good for one pour of that offering or any other “one pint or snifter of equal value.”

Cigar City Brewing Provides a Peek at Its 2018 Distribution Calendar

Freshly adorned with some sweet new branding, Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, Florida) has come forward to give fans a look at the year ahead with the publication of the brewery’s 2018 Distribution Calendar.

As is the case with all brewery calendars around here, we have posted Cigar City Brewing’s full 2018 Distribution Calendar below so that you can look it over at your own pace. We do have a few points to mention first, so let’s quickly get those out of the way:

Guayabera Citra Pale Ale will be added to the Year-Round lineup in 2018. It will join Jai Alai IPA, Florida Cracker Belgian-style White Ale, Invasion Tropical Pale Ale, Lager, and Maduro Brown Ale to comprise the brewery’s full Year-Round portfolio.
Special Releases will continue to include such long-standing favorites as White Oak Jai Alai IPA (January – March & July – September), Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Brown Ale (April – June), Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout (November) and several more.
The draft-only Nitro Series will continue in 2018. Keep an eye out for Minaret English Pub Ale (March – April), Xenu Cream Ale (July – August), Cafe con Leche Sweet Stout (November – December) and others to hit draft lines throughout the year.
If you are freaking out a bit because you cannot locate one of your favorite Cigar City brews on the calendar, please keep in mind that this distribution calendar only lists beers that are hitting the brewery’s full distribution footprint. Rest assured knowing that there will still be countless other special and limited release offerings hitting shelves and taps throughout the year.

Cigar City Brewing and LOKO Cuisine to Host Jai Life Eggs and Kegs Event

On Sunday, May 21 at 11 a.m., Cigar City Brewing (3924 W. Spruce St, Tampa, Florida) and LOKO Cuisine will join forces once again to bring their fans Jai Life Eggs and Kegs, a Jamaican-inspired brunch that showcases the culinary versatility of Jai Alai India Pale Ale.

Eggs and Kegs is an ongoing series of food and beer pairings where Chef Loscalzo of LOKO Cuisine designs an imaginative themed menu centered around the flavor and aromatic profiles of a chosen beer or beers. Taking place in the Fermentorium at Cigar City Brewing, Jai Life Eggs and Kegs will feature “a Jamaican inspired 4-course spread made to complement the hoppy goodness of Jai Alai IPA.” For this event, Cigar City Brewing will be offering two variants of Jai Alai, White Oak Jai Alai and Jai Alai treated with Fresh Grapefruit Zest, as options to enjoy with the following menu:

In addition to all of the amazing food and beer, Jai Life Eggs and Kegs will also feature Citra Hopped nitro infused cold brew coffee from Ginger Beard Coffee and an ambiance properly set by the music of Bob Marley and other artists of the reggae genre.

Cigar City Brewing Releases 2017 Distribution Calendar

Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, Florida) recently announced the release timeline for their 2017 portfolio of distributed beers.

In true Cigar City Brewing fashion, the always interesting and innovative brewery has more than a few intriguing beers in their 2017 distribution portfolio to grab your attention. The full 2017 Distribution Calendar from the brewery is available below, but we really should go over a handful of highlights first:

Cigar City’s Nitro Series returns with a lineup of draft-only releases that will rotate every two months. 2017’s nitrogenated offerings will be El Coco Coconut Flan Ale, Hornswoggled Red Ale, Vanilla Maduro Brown Ale, Horchata Tropical Ale, Good Gourd Imperial Pumpkin Ale & Cafe Con Leche Sweet Stout. The series kicks off in January with the release of El Coco Coconut Flan Ale.
The brewery’s line of Special Releases leads off with White Oak Jai Alai India Pale Ale in January.
Stout fans will be elated to see that Special Releases Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout and Marshal Zhukov’s Penultimate Push Imperial Stout with Coffee, Cacao Nibs and Vanilla will both see distribution in bottles and on draft in 2017.
Cigar City Brewing currently distributes in six states: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York.
Keep in mind that this calendar only consists of Cigar City’s distributed offerings. There will still be plenty more Special Releases, Irregular Releases, and various other treats that will see limited or taproom-only availability in 2017.
