Restricted Area DIPA Joins New Realm’s Monsters & Myths Series

New Realm Brewing Company (Atlanta, Georgia) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Restricted Area Double IPA in late April 2022.

The second release of 2022 in the brewery’s Monsters & Myths Series of Limited Release brews inspired by the “world’s most famous (and infamous) mythical legends,” Restricted Area – a reference to the secrets housed at Area 51 – is a West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale “brewed with a paranormal amount of Citra and Mosaic hops for a hop-forward beer that is ripe with citrus, berry, and stone fruit aromatics.” Coming in at 9% ABV and 50 IBUs, Restricted Area is sure to “transfer [you] to another dimension.”

“Restricted Area is a classic West Coast-style DIPA, exclusively brewed with two popular hop varieties, Citra and Mosaic. We had never brewed a beer that exclusively used these two hops, until a recent pilot brew. It was so well received in our taproom, that we knew we needed to use this blend in Restricted Area DIPA. Besides being dry-hopped at 3 lbs. per barrel, we also used a blend of American, English and German malts to this DIPA, to give Restricted Area even more complexity and depth.” Shared Mitch Steele, Co-Founder and Brewmaster of New Realm Brewing.

Wild Leap Brew Co. (LaGrange, Georgia) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Alpha Abstraction Volume XX in late April 2022.

Lauded by the “entire Wild Leap team” to be the “best of the [Alpha Abstraction] series so far,” Alpha Abstraction Volume XX is a Hazy/Juicy Double India Pale Ale featuring “YCH Cryo Trial 603 and Mosaic Cryo hops with hazy, floral and herbal flavor notes.” Coming in at 8% ABV, Alpha Abstraction Volume XX features “wonderful notes of blueberry, stone fruit and mango.”

“Reaching the twentieth volume of the Alpha Abstraction series is an important benchmark for us, and we decided to brew this volume with a couple of our favorite hops to celebrate,” explains Wild Leap’s Chief Brewing Officer, Chris Elliott. “We have done a good bit of hop experimentation in the last four years, and two of our absolute favorite hops are Mosaic Cryo and YCH Cryo Trial 603. The embodiment of being “preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should,” Rice Crispy Boi is an “extra crispity” American Lager featuring “toasted rice flakes and goopy marshmallows.” Coming in at 5% ABV, Rice Crispy Boi resides “firmly in ‘crispy boi’ territory for maximum imbibeability.”

Tampa Bay Brewing Co. (Tampa, Florida) has officially announced that Space Donkey Hazy Pale Ale will return for a limited time in early April 2022.

The hazy cousin to the Tampa classic that is Reef Donkey, Space Donkey is a Hazy/Juicy Pale Ale that took that original recipe and “loaded it up with over 3lb per barrel of Galaxy hops and used London Fog yeast and the power of biotransformation to take the juiciness where no one has gone before.” Coming in at 5.5% ABV, Space Donkey will “beam intense peach, passionfruit, and citrus flavors directly to your face all carried on pillowy-soft, full body.”

A fan-favorite riff on Fire Maker’s Year-Round “Southeastern IPA“, Peach Chattahooch-Tea Southeastern IPA is an American India Pale Ale “brewed with a custom blend of teas, peaches, herbs, and lactose, and double dry hopped with El Dorado, Azacca, and Citra” hops. Coming in at 6.5% ABV, Peach Chattahooch-Tea Southeastern IPA is “a true Southern treat.”

Flying Dog Fights Book Censorship with Release of 451 Juicy IPA

Flying Dog Brewery (Frederick, Maryland) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of 451 Juicy IPA in early April 2022.

A response to the recent resurgence in book burning and banning and named after Ray Bradbury’s classic 1953 dystopian novel about censorship – Fahrenheit 451, 451 Juicy IPA is an Imperial Hazy/Juicy India Pale Ale that sees “95% of [its] hops . . . added late in the process, this dry hopping amps up the aroma and flavor while keeping the beer’s bitterness low, letting 451’s juicy fruit flavors dominate.” Coming in at an “incredibly approachable and drinkable” 11% ABV, 451 Juicy IPA is a “medium bodied imperial [that stays] soft on the palette with its alcohol content being nearly unnoticeable in the flavor.”

Modeled after the Crush cocktail that “has long been a go-to summer [sipper] for locals” in coastal Delaware, Mandarin & Mango Crush is a Fruit Beer “brewed with boatloads of tart mandarin oranges and juicy Alphonso mangoes.” Coming in at 6% ABV, Mandarin & Mango Crush is a “lightly-sweet, hazy gold-colored brew [boasting] a refreshing, citrusy tartness and a crisp, dry finish for a sip of summer in every bottle.”

Here to revamp Wild Heaven’s Flagship lineup and replace both Wise Blood and Altair, Sunburst IPA is a Hazy/Juicy India Pale Ale that “features a delightful blend of Talus, Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic, Amarillo, Cascade, and Chinook hops – adding something special from each varietal.” Coming in at 6.5% ABV, Sunburst IPA has “a touch of bitterness [that blends] with the notes that come from the best of modern hops for a clean, crisp finish.”
