Monday Night Brewing Goes Lo-Cal Year-Round with Release of Lay Low IPA

lay-low-mnb-bigMonday Night Brewing (Atlanta, Georgia) has officially announced that it will introduce Lay Low IPA, a low-calorie IPA that “actually tastes like an IPA,” as its newest Year-Round offering on January 24.

The result of a year-long mission to “create a low calorie, low ABV beer that actually tasted delicious,” Lay Low IPA is a Session India Pale Ale “dry hopped with Citra, Idaho 7 and Sultana [hops], creating the oh-so-original citrusy notes of a classic IPA.”  Clocking in at just 3.2% ABV and 90 calories and boasting a “crisp, clean and dry” finish, Lay Low IPA is “designed for you to SLAY IPA ALL DAY.”

“Typically, when you set out to make a low-calorie, low-alcohol craft beer, it turns out watery and bland—which makes sense, because water also happens to be low-calorie and low-alcohol,” says Peter Kiley, Brewmaster at Monday Night Brewing. “It took us almost a full year to get the recipe for Lay Low right, but we finally struck the ideal balance of flavorful and sessionable.”

Monday Night Brewing Adds Lundi IPA to Year-Round Lineup

lundi-12-oz-can-transMonday Night Brewing (Atlanta, Georgia) has announced that Lundi IPA will officially launch in late August as the brewery’s newest Year-Round offering.

Developed after “months of test batches, hop experiments, and sensory panels,” Lundi is an American India Pale Ale that features “all the tangerine and grapefruit notes of Mosaic, Simcoe and El Dorado hops.” Balanced with a “juicy . . . pleasant sweetness, thanks to the malt backbone of Pilsner, oats, and wheat,” Lundi IPA (7.1% ABV, 55 IBUs) is full-flavored “but with less of the bitterness commonly associated with bold IPAs,”

“We strive to create beers that go well with weeknights—balanced, flavorful ales that pair well with food. Our brewers nailed that with Lundi,” said Monday Night Co-Founder Jonathan Baker. “The versatility of this beer means it pairs well with a charcuterie plate, a savory tortière, or chicken paillard. And it especially works with good conversation and great friends.”

As for the name? “We got into a fun, funky, French vibe in the planning, testing, and tasting stages. Since Lundi is French for Monday, we leaned into it and went full Francophile,” said Baker.

Lundi IPA is rolling out now and will be available Year-Round.  You can expect to find this new IPA available in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft at craft beer-friendly establishments located within Monday Night’s distribution footprint in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Prost!

Arriving as the second installment in Monday Night’s newly-established Fistful of Cake sub-series of dessert-themed beers, Fistful of Cake – Chocolate Orange is an Imperial Milk Stout that “embodies the decadence of chocolate, but tempered with the aroma of fresh orange peels and Vietnamese cinnamon.”  Although it weighs in at a substantial 9% ABV, Fistful of Cake – Chocolate Orange Imperial Stout has a citrus burst that is just big enough to convince you that summer can be a Stout Season too.

“Brewing a stout to drink in the summertime can be a little tricky,” said brewmaster Peter Kiley. “With this round of Fistful of Cake, we wanted to make something that would pair well with desserts, but wouldn’t be so overly sweet that it would feel too heavy.”

Fistful of Cake – Chocolate Orange Imperial Stout will officially debut in Monday Night Brewing’s West Midtown taproom on Friday, June 7 at 4 p.m. (cans can be reserved by clicking here) and distribution is scheduled to follow shortly after the on-site release.  You can expect to find this Limited Release offering available in 16 oz. cans and on draft at select craft beer-focused establishments located within Monday Night’s distribution footprint in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.  Prost!

Monday Night Brewing Reformulates Blind Pirate Blood Orange IPA

bobpMonday Night Brewing (Atlanta, Georgia) has officially announced that it is actively rolling out a revamped version of one of their flagship beers, Blind Pirate Blood Orange IPA.

After regularly revisiting Blind Pirate Blood Orange IPA during weekly quality control and sensory evaluations, the brewing team at Monday Night decided it was time to give this flagship brew a bit of an update.  To give the beer a more modern feel, the “brewers adjusted a hop addition to highlight the blood orange juice and fine-tuned [the] mash process to soften the body and round out the flavor.” These careful tweaks have resulted in a refreshed Blind Pirate Blood Orange IPA that has “a bit more residual sweetness, more citrus notes, and a more balanced hop profile.”

“At Monday Night Brewing, one of our core values is ‘Fight For Excellence.’ That means we never want to rest on our laurels. If we can improve our beers, we owe it to our fans to make it happen,” said co-founder Jonathan Baker. “We’ve had the blood orange version of Blind Pirate in our lineup for several years now, but our brewing team believed they could make it better.”

The new and improved Blind Pirate Blood Orange IPA is rolling out now and should be “in most areas by mid-May.”  You can expect to find this reformulated Year-Round available in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft at craft beer-friendly retailers, bars and restaurants located within Monday Night’s distribution footprint in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.  Prost!

Monday Night Brewing Sends Out a Little Reminder: Don’t Call It Hotlanta DIPA

mnbhotlantastudioMonday Night Brewing (Atlanta, Georgia) has officially announced that it is celebrating this weekend’s “Big Game” with the Limited Release of Don’t Call It Hotlanta Quadruple Dry-Hopped IPA.

Back to once again claim its place in Monday Night’s Black Tie Series of limited release offerings, Don’t Call It Hotlanta is an unfiltered Double India Pale Ale that has been dry-hopped four times with Columbus, Citra and Galaxy hops.  This insane hop treatment yields an experience “that pops with tropical notes on the nose, drinks dank, and finishes with a bit of bitterness.”  Clearly created to send a message, Don’t Call It Hotlanta flexes its warning with 8.5% ABV and 55 IBUs.

“It’s become kind of a joke for people who live in Atlanta. Everyone here has a friend or relative who calls our city ‘Hotlanta.’ It’s one of those cringe-worthy nicknames that nobody ever uses except out-of-towners. So we brewed this beer as a not-so-subtle way for locals to get the point across.”

– Joel Iverson, Co-Founder of Monday Night Brewing

Hi-Wire Brewing Releases 2019 Collaboration 12-Pack

Hi-Wire-BrewingHi-Wire Brewing (Asheville, North Carolina) has officially announced that it will release the 2019 edition of its always popular Collaboration Mixed 12-Pack in mid-January.

Back for its third straight year, the Collaboration Mixed 12-Pack is a project that attempts to “connect the dots between some of [Hi-Wire’s] favorite breweries and their fans while creating beers that blend the different styles and philosophies of each brewery.”  The packaging for each collaboration beer features “a vintage ‘spray paint’ can inspired design which represents the kaleidoscope of ideas and recipes created within the collaborations.”

This year’s collaborations are as follows (official descriptions sourced from Hi-Wire Brewing’s press release):

  • Hoppy Pilsner | Collaboration with Rhinegeist Brewery – A common thread among our collaboration 12-pack for 2019 is the ‘beer first’ philosophy of the participating breweries. Rhinegeist Brewery out of Cincinnati, Ohio stays true to this sentiment by creating solid, drinkable beers and brewing a lot of them. For this classic Hoppy Pilsner we used triticale malt from Epiphany Craft Malt here in North Carolina. The hybrid of wheat and rye in this malt varietal imparts a pleasant mouthfeel and grainy backbone to let the tropical citrus, passionfruit and pine notes from Vic Secret, Montueka, and Ella hops shine.  (5.5% ABV)
  • Blonde Brunch Stout | Collaboration with Revelry Brewing Co. – Revelry Brewing likes to play with creative ingredients and recipes at their brewery in Charleston, South Carolina. With this collab our objective was simple: create a brunch-worthy stout without utilizing darker stout malts with an ABV low enough to take you from breakfast well into the late afternoon. Cacao nibs lends notes of roasty chocolate, fresh vanilla creates a creamy mouthfeel, while naturally processed Monte Crisol Costa Rican coffee from Asheville’s High Noon Coffee Roasters adds a soothing and distinct coffee character with notes of blueberry and lemon. (4.8% ABV)
  • No Coast IPA | Collaboration with Monday Night Brewing – Our collaboration with Monday Night Brewing out of Atlanta, Georgia represents the melding of two IPA worlds and we think that’s a good thing, probably. No Coast IPA is brimming with stone fruit, tangerine zest, and juicy tropical hop character balanced by a creamy mouthfeel. All the while, this hazy straw colored ale pays homage to the piney wheat and bitter character of a classic west coast IPA. It’s not east coast. It’s not west coast. It’s no coast. (6.7% ABV)

The beers above will enter full distribution in mid-January with limited availability in the Collaboration Mixed 12-pack of 12 oz. cans and on draft.  You can expect to find these brews at select craft beer-focused establishments located within Hi-Wire Brewing’s distribution footprint in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio. Prost!
