Schlafly Beer (St. Louis, Missouri) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Hoptic Visions, a Mixed 12-pack of IPAs, in late March/early April 2021.

Since keeping things fresh is a requirement in the world of IPAs, Schlafly is updating its 2021 Hoptic Visions Mixed 12-pack of 12 oz. bottles to include its incredibly popular sessionable IPA and the following three brand new IPAs:

  • India Pale Ale – Schlafly’s sessionable IPA is a classic hop-forward, golden-hazed beer that features notes of citrus and tropical flavors. ABV – 5%
  • Hazy Grapefruit IPA – This juicy IPA adds pounds of real fruit for an added complexity. Schlafly amplifies the grapefruit with complementing Cascade and Simcoe hops. ABV – 5%
  • Low Cal IPA – Clocking in at 110 calories, the new Low Cal IPA sways to the lighter side but is still packed with juicy hop flavor. ABV – 4%
  • West Coast IPA – A throwback IPA that sparked the love of hops, Schlafly’s West Coast IPA packs a bitter citrus and pine punch. ABV – 6%

Our year-round IPA has quickly grown to be one of the top performing beers in Schlafly’s portfolio. At only 5% ABV with juicy flavor and slight haze, it’s an easy drinking take on the style. In addition, the Hazy Grapefruit IPA is a new beer for this year and West Coast IPA is another exclusive offering brewed as an ode to the IPA style that started it all – both are exclusive to the pack.”

Great Divide Brewing Co. Launches 99 Calorie Fastpack IPA

Great Divide Brewing Company (Denver, Colorado) has officially announced that it is getting into the low-calorie beer game by introducing Fastpack IPA, a new Year-Round offering, in March 2021.

Crafted with “the outdoor enthusiast in mind,” Fastpack IPA is a Session India Pale Ale that boasts a “generous addition of Cashmere hops – alongside Simcoe and Chinook,” Coming in at just 99 calories and 4% ABV, Fastpack IPA “offers a fruit cocktail of citrus, peach and other stone fruits with lively hints of white wine.”

“With Fastpack, we wanted to address a gap in our portfolio while also appealing to an emerging segment of beer drinkers,” said Sales & Marketing Director, Kirk Simpson. “However, we knew this beer had to meet the high bar we’ve set for Great Divide hop-forward offerings such as Hazy IPA, Car Camper Hazy Pale Ale and Titan IPA. Fastpack IPA is an India Pale Ale first and foremost. That it also happens to be low-cal and low-ABV speaks to the ingenuity of our brewing team.”

“Session and low-cal beers have always had a bit of a stigma against them,” explained Innovation Brewer, Tony Rau. “They typically can be watery or have a very thin mouthfeel. By changing the base of the recipe to include some more protein heavy malts, it has allowed us to find a middle ground of maintaining a full mouthfeel while keeping the calories and carbs down. At the end of the day, we made a low-cal IPA that drinks like a normal IPA, just with fewer calories and less guilt!”

Fastpack IPA debuted in early March 2021 with availability in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft. You can expect to find this new Year-Round offering at craft beer-focused establishments located in Colorado and throughout the rest of Great Divide’s distribution area. Prost!

New Realm Brewing Company adds beLOW Hazy IPA to Year-Round Lineup

New Realm Brewing Company (Atlanta, Georgia) has officially announced that beLOW Hazy IPA, the brewery’s first low-carb and Hazy IPA, will join its Year-Round lineup in March 2021.

Developed to capture the “lighter side of IPA” at New Realm Brewing Company, beLOW is a sessionable Hazy/Juicy India Pale Ale “anchored by one of the company’s favorite hop combinations and a meticulously engineered brewing process.” Coming in at just 4% ABV, 20 IBUs, 99 calories and 4.2g of carbs, the “light, crisp and refreshing” beLOW “is the perfect balance of bright citrusy notes, drinkability and low-carb profile.”

“This beer is something special”, said Bob Powers, Co-Founder and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer of New Realm Brewing. “It’s citrusy, refreshing, and has the hop character that IPA lovers crave, with less than half the calories. beLOW was brewed with high-quality, all-natural ingredients and doesn’t make a consumer compromise taste, quality, or their healthy, active lifestyle like some beers.”

“We created beLOW with some of my favorite hop varieties which lend a light, citrusy flavor profile that impresses the palate. The process of brewing a low-carb, low-calorie beer is very unique and challenging. In most beers there is a residual sweetness in the final product, and carbs come with that rich sweetness. With beLOW, we use exogenous enzymes to break down the complex sugars in the wort which leaves the beer with a drier finish and significantly less carbs than your standard IPA, without sacrificing any flavor,” said Brewmaster and Co-Founder Mitch Steele.

beLOW Hazy IPA will debut on March 2 with availability in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft. You can expect to find this new Year-Round offering at select craft beer-focused establishments located within New Realm’s distribution footprint in Georgia and Virginia. Prost!

Short’s Brewing Co. Goes Year-Round with Lil’ Huma Low-Cal IPA

Short’s Brewing Company (Elk Rapids, Michigan) has officially announced that Lil’ Huma, a low-calorie, low-carb Session IPA, will join the brewery’s Flagship lineup in early December 2020.

Originally introduced over the summer as a part of Short’s Brewing Company’s Refreshin’ Session Variety Pack, Lil’ Huma is a Session India Pale Ale that boasts “massive flavors, made in the likeness of its hop- and malt-packed big brother, Huma Lupa Licious.” Coming in at only 95 calories, 4 carbs, and 4.5% ABV, Lil’ Huma greets “your nose . . . with a huge citrus and pine hop profile that leads perfectly into a full-bodied yet quaffable mouthfeel, rounded out by a lil’ balance of malt sweetness, finishing with an affable bitterness.”

“IPA development has been a huge part of our brewery’s DNA since day one. We’ve tested many versions of session IPA as Seasonal and Specialty drops and dozens of Pub only releases. Lil’ Huma is our first year-round offering for a low cal/carb/abv IPA.
“Just as it’s big brother Huma Lupa Licious was the beer that built Short’s Brewing Company, I’m soooo excited for Lil’ Huma to be the next generation of micro brewing’s evolution. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my fair share of Huma Lupa Licious, but Lil’ Huma has brought more flexibility to my beer drinking career. I’m busier than ever so a full strength IPA doesn’t make as many afternoon or weeknight appearances as it used to! But that’s no longer the case now Lil’ Huma is here. Liquid lunchers rejoice—a daily dose of Lil’ Huma is a dream come true.”
– Joe Short, Founder of Short’s Brewing Co.

Lil’ Huma is rolling out now in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans, 12-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft. 12 oz. bottles are expected to hit in early 2021 and “18 packs are rumored for summer 2021.” You can expect to find this Year-Round offering available at craft beer-focused establishments located in Florida, Michigan and throughout the rest of Short’s Brewing Company’s distribution footprint.
