Wild Leap Brew Co. (LaGrange, Georgia) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Alpha Abstraction – Vol. 15 on Monday, December 14.

The latest release in Wild Leap’s experimental Double IPA Series that “explores hop varieties and features a varied hop profile in each volume,” Alpha Abstraction – Vol. 15 is a Hazy/Juicy Double India Pale Ale double dry-hopped with El Dorado and Idaho 7 hops. Coming in at 8% ABV, Alpha Abstraction – Vol. 15 supplies its drinker with plenty of “dank tropical, mango and caramel notes.”

“Similarly to Vol. 10, Vol. 15 features a hop combination of select lots chosen for their supreme juicy and dank qualities,” explains Wild Leap’s Chief Brewing Officer, Chris Elliott. “The result is a wonderfully bright and clean tropical aroma and flavor.”

“We’ve used El Dorado and Idaho 7 hops before in smaller batch beers, but it wasn’t until Hop Harvest this year that we tested two very unique lots of each variety,” says Elliott. “The El Dorado is very dank tropical and the Idaho 7 has huge mango and caramel notes. We knew this balance was uniquely perfect, so we secured enough of each lot for this very special volume of Alpha.”

Rogue Ales Adds Colossal Claude Imperial IPA to Year-Round Lineup

Rogue Ales (Newport, Oregon) has officially announced that Colossal Claude will join the brewery’s Year-Round portfolio on January 1, 2021.

Named after the mythical sea monster rumored to lurk in the waters near the mouth of the Columbia River and the Oregon Coast, Colossal Claude is an Imperial India Pale Ale loaded down with Cascade, Chinook, Citra and Strata hops. Weighing in at 8.2% ABV and 75 IBUs, Colossal Claude “offers citrus and floral hop aromas on the nose and finishes a touch on the bitter side with plenty of soft pine and resinous hoppy notes.”

“As our newest Imperial IPA, Colossal Claude is an incredibly exciting addition to our family,” says Dharma Tamm, Rogue President. “This monstrous brew is full of hops and packs a punch worthy of the most awesome monster living off the coast of Newport. Colossal Claude completes Rogue’s year-round IPA portfolio, which also includes Batsquatch Hazy IPA and Outta Line West Coast IPA.

“It’s been a few decades since a Colossal Claude sighting has been reported, but we’re fairly certain the massive sea monster has been laying low off the coast of his favorite brewery,” says Joel Shields, Rogue Brewmaster. “Word has it that after years of terrifying sailors and feasting on salmon he acquired a taste for hops. So we brewed this Imperial IPA with a colossal dose of Cascade, Chinook, Citra and Strata hops in hope of coaxing Claude out to join us for a pint.”

Colossal Claude will debut at the start of January 2021 with availability in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans, 19.2 oz. cans and on draft. You can expect to find this new Year-Round offfering available at craft beer-focused establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Oregon and throughout the rest of Rogue’s nationwide distribution network. Short’s Brewing Co. Goes Year-Round with Lil’ Huma Low-Cal IPA

Short’s Brewing Company (Elk Rapids, Michigan) has officially announced that Lil’ Huma, a low-calorie, low-carb Session IPA, will join the brewery’s Flagship lineup in early December 2020.

Originally introduced over the summer as a part of Short’s Brewing Company’s Refreshin’ Session Variety Pack, Lil’ Huma is a Session India Pale Ale that boasts “massive flavors, made in the likeness of its hop- and malt-packed big brother, Huma Lupa Licious.” Coming in at only 95 calories, 4 carbs, and 4.5% ABV, Lil’ Huma greets “your nose . . . with a huge citrus and pine hop profile that leads perfectly into a full-bodied yet quaffable mouthfeel, rounded out by a lil’ balance of malt sweetness, finishing with an affable bitterness.”

“IPA development has been a huge part of our brewery’s DNA since day one. We’ve tested many versions of session IPA as Seasonal and Specialty drops and dozens of Pub only releases. Lil’ Huma is our first year-round offering for a low cal/carb/abv IPA.
“Just as it’s big brother Huma Lupa Licious was the beer that built Short’s Brewing Company, I’m soooo excited for Lil’ Huma to be the next generation of micro brewing’s evolution. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my fair share of Huma Lupa Licious, but Lil’ Huma has brought more flexibility to my beer drinking career. I’m busier than ever so a full strength IPA doesn’t make as many afternoon or weeknight appearances as it used to! But that’s no longer the case now Lil’ Huma is here. Liquid lunchers rejoice—a daily dose of Lil’ Huma is a dream come true.”
– Joe Short, Founder of Short’s Brewing Co.

Lil’ Huma is rolling out now in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans, 12-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft. 12 oz. bottles are expected to hit in early 2021 and “18 packs are rumored for summer 2021.” You can expect to find this Year-Round offering available at craft beer-focused establishments located in Florida, Michigan and throughout the rest of Short’s Brewing Company’s distribution footprint.
