Westbrook Brewing Co. to Take Over the Taps at Angry Chair Brewing

WestbrooklogoOn Thursday, November 8 from 3 p.m. to close, the folks at Angry Chair Brewing (Tampa, Florida) will turn their taproom over to their friends from Westbrook Brewing Co. (Mount Pleasant, South Carolina) for a very special Tap Takeover that will honor the breweries’ most recent collaboration, ZOOSE JOOSE.

Not too long ago, a contingent of the Angry Chair crew ventured up to South Carolina to brew a collaboration beer with Westbrook Brewing, ZOOSE JOOSE – an Ambrosia Salad-inspired Berliner with lactose, pineapple, tangerine, tart and sweet cherry, and marshmallow.  Since a beer fit for the gods can only be produced in small batches, this collaboration only experienced a limited release in Westbrook’s distribution area.

Realizing that the Angry Chair faithful would most likely want to get their hands on some ZOOSE JOOSE, Westbrook Brewing set aside some of this collaboration brew and quite a few other special kegs so that it can descend upon Angry Chair Brewing on November 8 and unleash a full-scale Tap Takeover.  This event will feature the following beers from Westbrook Brewing Co.:

Beers Tapped at 3 p.m.

  • Key Lime Gose
  • Festbrook
  • Lemon Cucumber Gose
  • Piña Colada Gose
  • Triple Double Kriek
  • Mexican Cake (2018)
  • Russian Interference – The first collaboration beer from Angry Chair & Westbrook

Beers Tapped at 7 p.m. and Beyond

  • 2018 Laphroiag Barrel-aged Siberian Black Magic Panther
  • Willet Barrel-aged Kentucky Coffee Stout
  • Imperial Mexican Biscotti Cake (Spicy Nacho Edition)
  • 2017 Mexican Coffee Cake
  • 2017 Cabernet Barrel-aged 6th Anniversary Stout (Chocolate & Hazelnut)
  • Leopold (Sauternes Barrel-aged Apricot & Peach Sour)
  • Can Can Cerise (3+year Red Wine Barrel-aged Belgian Dark Sour with Cherries)
  • ZOOSE JOOSE (draft only; Angry Chair WILL NOT have cans of ZOOSE JOOSE available for purchase)

Angry Chair will have a few of their beers on tap as well during this Tap Takeover, but the focus of this event is to showcase the delicious Westbrook offerings listed above.  There will be NO GROWLER/CROWLER FILLS during this event.

The Westbrook Brewing Co. Tap Takeover at Angry Chair is come as you are and pay as you go. An event of this magnitude is sure to draw some serious interest from Tampa area beer lovers, so plan accordingly (carpool or Uber/Lyft and don’t park on Fern) and expect this Tap Takeover to be mostly standing-room only.  Prost!

Angry Chair Brewing Schedules Bottle Release for Barrel-Aged Lunar Lycan

AngryChairOn Saturday, October 14 at 9 a.m., Angry Chair Brewing (Tampa, Florida) will hold a bottle release for Bourbon/Brandy Barrel-Aged Lunar Lycan, a special offering brewed in collaboration with Omnipollo (Stockholm, Sweden).

For those of you that were in the area back in March during Tampa Bay Beer Week, you may remember Angry Chair Brewing’s release of Lunar Lycan, an 11.5% ABV Imperial Marzipan Coffee Cream Stout that they tag-teamed with Sweden’s Omnipollo.  The release was insane and the beer sold out quickly, but some Lunar Lycan was kept from us and tucked away in barrels that once “held Bourbon for 12 years . . . were [then] dumped and . . . refilled with Brandy for several more years.”  Months have passed and now Bourbon/Brandy Barrel-Aged Lunar Lycan is finally ready to fill your glass.

There is a lot to keep in mind when it comes to just about every bottle release at Angry Chair, so we are going to break down all the details and rules so that you are able to easily acquire your bottles without pissing anyone off:

  • Angry Chair will begin the Bourbon/Brandy Barrel-Aged Lunar Lycan bottle release at 9 a.m. on Saturday October 14The brewery will be open for bottle sales only at 9 a.m. and reopen for normal business at noon with a limited amount of Bourbon/Brandy Barrel-Aged Lunar Lycan pouring on draft.
  • Bourbon/Brandy Barrel-Aged Lunar Lycan will be available in 750ml bottles for the price of $30 each
  • Bottle limits will be established based on how many people are in line at the time of release
  • Please BRING CASH so that the brewery staff can expedite the process and keep the line moving
  • Speaking of the line, here’s a note from the brewery: “Lines are becoming dangerous and we do not want to stop releasing so please help us out by: standing/sitting AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to our building while on Florida Ave. leaving ample sidewalk space between you and the road, this is also to help people who are just trying to walk past our building. If we have to, we will move you, please do not make us come out and do that.”
  • Parking – As always, DO NOT PARK ON FERN. Trip’s Diner across the street will be open and need their parking spots for their customers, so DO NOT PARK AT TRIP’S DINER.  Parking is available on most residential streets nearby, but do not block driveways, walkways, etc.  This may sound like a hassle and it can be, but you can avoid the parking issues by carpooling, having someone drop you off/pick you up, or using an Uber.
  • Finally, and above all else, just be respectful of Angry Chair’s neighbors.

If all attendees come prepared and follow the guidelines above, everything should go smoothly with everyone happily walking away with bottle(s) in hand.  With that said, Bourbon/Brandy Barrel-Aged Lunar Lycan is pretty much guaranteed to sell out and you will need to be in line at the time of the head count to get your bottle.  Just be on time, be patient, have fun with your fellow beer lovers, and be cool.  Prost!

TBBW Event: Omnipollo Spotlight and Lunar Lycan Release at Angry Chair Brewing

angrychairOn Wednesday, March 8 at 4 p.m., Angry Chair Brewing (6401 N Florida Ave, Tampa, Florida) will get in on some Tampa Bay Beer Week action by hosting their friends from Omnipollo (Stockholm, Sweden) for an evening of special brews and a limited bottle release of their collaboration beer, Lunar Lycan Imperial Marzipan Coffee Cream Stout.

To create something truly special for Tampa Bay Beer Week (TBBW), Angry Chair Brewing has crossed mash paddles with Omnipollo to brew up Lunar Lycan Imperial Marzipan Coffee Cream Stout.  Brewed with toasted almonds and dark roast coffee, this 11.5% ABV Cream Stout proudly embodies both breweries’ reputations for pushing the limits when it comes to the flavor profiles of their beers.  Bottles of Lunar Lycan will be available for purchase during this event for $20 each (limit of 4 bottles per customer).

In addition to the bottle release, Angry Chair plans to have Lunar Lycan available on tap alongside two guest brews from Omnipollo.  Since these guest kegs are being shipped from another country, there is an outside chance that they may not make it in time for this event.  If – and we stress “IF” – that happens, the folks at Angry Chair have plans in place to tap some other “cool beers in an attempt to make up for it.”  **UPDATE 3.8.17** The Omnipollo kegs have arrived and they are as follows:

Omnipollo Beers to be Featured The Event

  • Magnus Opus Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Cinnamon Vanilla Pecan Caramel Poppy Charcoal Bacon Stout  ABV – 14.5%
