Alesmith & Alvarado Street Brewery Collaborate on Oso Under West Coast IPA

Alesmith Brewing Company (San Diego, California) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Oso Under, a special collaboration project with Alvarado Street Brewery (Salinas, California), in early June 2021.

A beer that “melds the breweries’ distinct strengths” and centers around Australian and New Zealand hops, Oso Under is a West Coast-style India Pale Ale where “Galaxy hops are the star of the show with their passionfruit, citrus, and peach flavors and aromas, while Vic Secret hops, hailing from Victoria, Australia, tout tropical fruit, herbs, pine, clean pineapple and passionfruit. Nelson hops round out this beloved Aussie/New Zealand extravaganza with fruit-flavored accents.” Coming in at 7% ABV, Oso Under “is teeming with brightness, curbed by a dry finish.”

“We are very excited to work with J.C. and his team at Alvarado Street,” says Head Brewer and Director of Brewery Operations at AleSmith, Ryan Crisp. “The beers they are producing are top notch and we’re delighted to collaborate on a beer that would truly be something special. We decided on a clean West Coast IPA with large amounts of Australian and New Zealand hops inspired by ours and J.C.’s roots to San Diego. TrimTab Brewing (Birmingham, Alabama) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Motel Party After Party on Friday, May 28.

The next release in TrimTab Brewing’s Beach Club Series of exotic “tiki and cocktail influenced sour ales,” Motel Party After Party is a Sour Ale “crafted with sweet Passionfruit and tart Raspberry.” Coming in at 7.4% ABV, Motel Party After Party is here to prove that there “ain’t no party like a motel party after party cause a motel party after party don’t stop.”

Bissell Brothers Brewing (Portland, Maine) has officially announced that it will release the first 2021 batch of Worth A Visit, Worth A Lifetime in late May.

Dropping just in time to celebrate the arrival of summer in Portland, Worth A Visit, Worth A Lifetime is a Hazy/Juicy Triple India Pale Ale “hopped with loads of Vic Secret, Mosaic, Citra and Southern Passion.” Coming in at 10% ABV and boasting “notes of grapefruit pulp, fruit salad and Creamsaver,” Worth A Visit, Worth A Lifetime is “as close to a cocktail-in-a-can as [it gets] at Bissell Brothers.”

Burial Beer Co. Raids the Candy Jar to Create Skillet Snacks

Burial Beer Co. (Asheville, North Carolina) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Skillet Snacks on Wednesday, May 26.

Concocted to be an even more decadent take on Burial’s infamous Skillet Donut Stout “made from a blend of nine barley malts, a healthy scoop of oats, milk and molasses sugars, and [their] favorite blend of freshly roasted Counter Culture Coffee beans,” Skillet Snacks takes the OG Skillet and “[ages it] upon heaps of house-made peanut butter, French Broad Chocolates Cocoa Nibs, fresh vanilla bean, and some candy sugars.” Coming in at 8% ABV, Skillet Snacks offers a “fistful of molten reeces cups chased with bags of M&M’s and washed down with caramel hot chocolate.”

A very limited amount of 4-packs of 16 oz. cans of Skillet Snacks – along with cans of the original Skillet and the Skillet mug pictured above – will be available for online presale for pickup at Burial Beer Co.’s Asheville taproom, Raleigh taproom and Charlotte taproom at noon on May 26. Dropping as the second release in Lagunitas Brewing Company’s StereoHopic Series that “channels their 25+ year hop love affair into a spotlight on two special varietals at a time–and the interestingness that happens between,” StereoHopic Vol. 2 is a West Coast-style India Pale Ale that “showcases the magical marriage of the elusive Alsatian Elixir hop and Yakima’s floral Loral hop blending together in one beer that is more than the sum of its parts.” Coming in at 7.2% ABV and 65 IBUs, StereoHopic Vol. 2 offers “blueberry-honey-floral aromas leading to palate-walloping flavors of extreme resinousness, grippiness, and grapefruit pithiness.”

Developed to be the “‘summery’ companion of [21st Amendment’s] iconic west coast Brew Free! or Die IPA and Blood Orange Brew Free! or Die IPA,” Tropical Brew Free! or Die IPA is a West Coast-style India Pale Ale that boasts “mega-juicy kettle hops and a harmonious blend of Idaho 7, El Dorado, Azacca, Mosaic, Amarillo, and Calypso dry hops.” Coming in at 6.8% ABV, Tropical Brew Free! or Die IPA captures “an island vacation” in each sip.

Orpheus Brewing Celebrates American Craft Beer Week with Release of City in the Trees

Orpheus Brewing (Atlanta, Georgia) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Can Release of City in the Trees, a long boil Doppelbock, on Wednesday May 12.

Dropping as Orpheus Brewing’s first release for American Craft Beer Week 2021, City in the Trees is a Doppelbock “brewed with 100% Barke pilsner malt and boiled for 16 hours to develop richness and color before lagering for many months.” Coming in at 9% ABV, City in the Trees features “vibrant notes of toffee, burnt caramel, dark fruit, and leather lending this beer light sweetness mixed with a surge of bitterness.”
