Oskar Blues Brewery Rolls Out Thick Haze New England-Style IPA

Oskar Blues Brewery (Longmont, Colorado) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Thick Haze New England-style IPA in early October 2020.

Basically the result of “pumping insane amounts of hops into an unfiltered, hand-crafted IPA,” Thick Haze is a Hazy/Juicy India Pale Ale dry-hopped with Galaxy, Cashmere, Calypso and Eureka hops “at an almost supernatural amplitude.” Coming in at 7% ABV, Thick Haze is a “giant hop-ness monster of a beer . . . [that] rolls onto the palate with intense flavors of pineapple, melon and mango” and finishes with “aftershocks of . . . citrus notes of grapefruit juice, tangerine and lemon peel.”

“We crafted Thick Haze to be the ultimate beast of a New England IPA – a full-blown freakout for hops,” said Oskar Blues Head Brewer Juice Drapeau. “We layered the hop profile to maximize all of the flavors we are diggin’ right now – tropical fruit, melon and citrus.”

Thick Haze is rolling out now and will hang around for an undisclosed amount of time. Heavy Seas Beer (Baltimore, Maryland) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Curbside Can Release of Jimmy Truffle Dessert Stout, a special collaboration project with Rheb’s Candies (Baltimore, Maryland), on Friday, October 23.

Developed to capture the full sensory experience found in Rheb’s iconic jimmy truffles, Jimmy Truffle is an Imperial Milk Stout that combines a hefty malt base with lactose, cocoa powder, chocolate syrup and 35 pounds of jimmies (“don’t you dare call them chocolate sprinkles!”). Weighing in at 8% ABV, Jimmy Truffle is “a luscious, chocolatey treat of a beer that’s perfect for a cool, autumn night.”

Back to retain its spot as the fourth release of the year in New Realm’s Sour Series, Tart’s Content is a fall-inspired Berliner Weisse featuring additions of cranberry, cinnamon and orange peel. Creature Comforts Brewing Co. (Athens, Georgia) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Everything Is (Mosaic) on Friday, October 9.

Dropping as the latest installment in Creature Comforts Brewing Co.’s rotating series of “true” dry-hopped Pilsners single-hopped with “a hop variety typically found in IPAs,” Everything Is (Mosaic) . . . no surprise here . . . is a Pilsner featuring Mosaic hops. According to Hopslist, Mosaic hops “have high alpha acids but low cohumulone which makes them pleasantly hoppy, carrying flavors of mango, pine, citrus and herbs and aromas of tropical and stone fruit.” Everything Is (Mosaic) comes in 5.2% ABV.

Named after the Hop Cyclone technology Tröegs uses to circulate and churn the hops properly throughout the fermenter to ensure that the “[hop] oils hit every last drop of beer,” HopCyclone is a Hazy/Juicy Double India Pale Ale that establishes a hazy foundation with a “grain bill of pilsner malt, Vienna malt and wheat” and is generously hopped with a “combination of Citra, Sabro, Sultana and Simcoe” hops. Stone Brewing’s New-Look Xocoveza Returns for Seasonal Release

Stone Brewing (Escondido, California) has officially announced that it will begin the Seasonal Release of its fan-favorite Stone Xocoveza, an Imperial Mocha Stout inspired by Oaxacan Hot Chocolate, in late September/early October 2020.

First introduced in 2014 as a special collaboration project and now annually released with the “same divine recipe” packed with only the highest quality ingredients, Stone Xocoveza is an Imperial Stout featuring coffee from Ritual Coffee, cocoa from Belyzium Craft Chocolate, peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and lactose. Coming in at a comforting and sip-worthy 8.1% ABV, Stone Xocoveza is back to help you “embrace . . . shorter days and longer nights.”

“We trialed some new coffees from a few suppliers for this year’s Stone Xocoveza,” explained Steve Gonzalez, Stone Senior Manager of Brewing & Innovation – Small Batch. “The clear standout was Sítio Cafe Forte, a Brazilian coffee roasted by Ritual. The chocolate notes of the beans piqued our interest, and when we pilot brewed the beer with this coffee, the results really blew us away.
