Concrete Beach Brewery Set for Brewery Exclusive Can Release of Mango Biche Gose

ConcreteBeachlogo2Concrete Beach Brewery (Miami, Florida) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Mango Biche Gose on Saturday, July 20.

Inspired by the Colombian snack of the same name “where unripe green mangos are served with salt, lime and pepper”, Mango Biche is a Gose-style Ale “made with lime juice, puréed green mangos from Lyons Farms Homestead, salt and Amarillo hops.”  Clocking in at a refreshing 4.8% ABV and 8 IBUs, Mango Biche Gose is sure to be the perfect beer to raise as you “pay tribute to Colombian Declaration of Independence on July 20.”

“I am so excited to have a little taste of home in Mango Biche Gose,” said Juliana Barazza, General Manager of Concrete Beach Brewery and native Colombian. “It’s the perfect combination of two of my favorite things – beer and mango biche – just in time for that mid-summer heat!”

Mango Biche Gose will officially debut at Concrete Beach Brewery on July 20 with a launch event aptly named “It’s Mango, Biches.” During this event, the brewery “will donate $1 for every Concrete Beach Brewery pint sold at the brewery on July 20 from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. to Carnaval de Barranquilla up to $800.” 6-packs of 12 oz. cans of Mango Biche Gose will also be available for purchase during this event for the cost of $13.99 each.  Mango Biche Gose is a brewery exclusive that will not see distribution.  Prost!

Heavy Seas Beer Brings the Local Flavor with Taproom Release of Bmore Snoball Egg Custard Blonde Ale

BmoreSnoballSquareHeavy Seas Beer (Baltimore, Maryland) has officially announced that it will release Bmore Snoball, an Egg Custard Blonde Ale, as its newest Taproom Exclusive on Friday, July 26.

“Egg Custard” might seem like an interesting flavor choice for a Limited Release Blonde Ale, but Bmore Snoball has local history behind it as it is inspired by “the original snoball flavor of Baltimore that was introduced when ice was first made available for commercial use during the Industrial Revolution.” As ice blocks were transported across the East Coast during that time, many of those shipments passed through Baltimore. Children in the area would often request ice shavings to cool them off during the summer months, and their mothers eventually “decided to start making syrups to flavor the ice by using a recipe of vanilla, sugar, and eggs. Today, the flavor is just named Egg Custard and is simply a golden colored vanilla syrup (it does not taste like eggs).”

Now that we are all caught up on the history and inspiration behind Bmore Snoball (5.5% ABV), here’s what the brewery has to say about what you can expect from the beer itself:

“We used imported, nutty Maris Otter Pale malt as the base for this Blonde Ale inspired by the classic Baltimore summer treat,” says Heavy Seas Brewmaster, Christopher Leonard. “A touch of Munich Malt provides a hint of bready character to go with a whisper of Strisselspalt hops. To replicate the Egg Custard Snoball flavor, we’ve added vanilla (LOTS of vanilla!) and just a touch of nutmeg and cinnamon. The result is a beer with a comforting aroma, a sweet dessert-like start and a surprisingly soft finish.”

Bmore Snoball will make its debut on July 26 in the Heavy Seas Tap Room. This Taproom Exclusive offering will be available for purchase in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans and on draft.  Bmore Snoball will not see distribution.  Prost!

Firestone Walker Brewing Company Introduces Cocktail-Inspired Old Man Hattan

FirestoneWalkerLogoFirestone Walker Brewing Company (Paso Robles, California) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Old Man Hattan – “an eccentric barrel-aged mashup of two classic cocktails: the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan” – in mid-July.

Originally introduced “last year as a brewery-only Black Friday limited release”, Old Man Hattan has now returned to act as one of only six Proprietor’s Vintage releases from Firestone Walker in 2019.  Meant to mimic the character of both an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan, Old Man Hattan starts with a base beer consisting of “a blend of signature Firestone Walker component beers, including Velvet Merkin, Bravo and Stickee Monkee aged in whiskey barrels.” Things then take an interesting turn when that base beer is introduced to “select lots of Parabola and Helldorado that were aged in barrels previously used to mature cherry, orange and aromatic bitters.”  Weighing in at smooth but warming 10.5% ABV, Old Man Hattan comes together to be a “barnstorming beer that exhibits pronounced whiskey notes while artfully expressing essences of both the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan cocktails.”

“Old Man Hattan is really true to its dual influences,” said Eric Ponce, Firestone Walker’s barrel program manager. “On the nose, you get hints of cherry, orange and clove spice. It’s extremely smooth and drinkable, with traditional whiskey characters of tobacco and bitter chocolate.”

He added, “If you’re a fan of the Old Fashioned, Manhattan or other whiskey-based cocktails, you’re going to love this beer.”

Old Man Hattan is scheduled to roll out in mid-July and plans to hang around only as long as supplies last.  You can expect to find this Limited Release offering available in individually boxed 12-ounce bottles at select craft beer-focused establishments located in North Carolina, Texas, California and throughout the rest of Firestone Walker’s expansive distribution territory. Prost!

Brewery Ommegang Introduces Saisonztraminer as Latest Co-Fermentation Project

OmmegangLogoCompleteBrewery Ommegang (Cooperstown, New York) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Saisonztraminer, the newest creation to come out of the brewery’s Co-Fermentation Project, on July 12.

Like all Co-Fermentation Projects from Brewery Ommegang, Saisonztraminer is a creative offering that “explores the interaction of grapes and grain, aspiring to achieve a blend that surpasses the sum of its parts.”  To reach this goal, Saisonztraminer begins its journey as a “delicate Farmhouse Saison” that goes on to have its “wort . . . blended with Gewürztraminer grape juice and then co-fermented using the brewery’s Belgian house yeast.”  This approach yields a “beer with all the peppery phenols and lively effervescence of a traditional Saison, but with flavors of rose petals, lychee fruit and honeysuckle, and vinous minerality that would be impossible to achieve without co-fermentation.” Coming in at 6.7% ABV, the finished Saisonztraminer truly “[blurs] the line between brewing and winemaking.”

“Each release co-ferments a blend of traditionally brewed wort and the juice of wine grapes, with fermentation often followed by a period of aging in oak wine barrels,” explains Brewmaster Phil Leinhart. “Our hope is to surprise even the most discerning palates, expanding expectations of what beer can be.”

Saisonztraminer will debut at Brewery Ommegang on July 12 and distribution is scheduled to follow shortly after the on-site release.  You can expect to find this Limited Release offering available in 4-packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft at select craft beer-friendly establishments located in Florida, New York and other select markets found within the brewery’s nationwide distribution network.  Prost!

Previously released in 2016 and 2017 as a springtime treat, Spring Release Barrel-aged IPA is set to return a little later in the year this time around.  The “Spring” descriptor may seem a bit confusing for a beer releasing during the summer, but it remains applicable because this Imperial India Pale Ale – brewed with El Dorado, Ella and Citra hops – was “aged underwater in a local freshwater spring in Early Times Kentucky Whiskey barrels for 48 days.” The 2019 iteration of Spring Release Barrel-aged IPA comes in at a smooth-sippin’ 8.5% ABV.

Spring Release Barrel-aged IPA (2019) will officially release in Marker 48’s taproom at noon on Saturday, July 13.  This Limited Release offering will be available for purchase in 500ml bottles (priced at $10 each or three for $25) and on draft. Iron Fist Brewing Continues Small Batch Series with July Release of Catalina’s Revenge APA

IronFistLogoIron Fist Brewing Company (Vista, California) has officially announced that Catalina’s Revenge, a West Coast-style American Pale Ale, will surface on July 12 as the brewery’s sixth Small Batch Experiment release of 2019.

Designed to be Iron Fist’s “homage to a California classic”, Catalina’s Revenge is a West Coast Pale Ale “brewed with crystal dark malts, Magnum for bittering and Citra for aroma and whirlpool.” To fully embrace that OG West Coast-style, this Pale Ale was “brewed using the traditional infusion method” and “was not dry hopped.” Still “hop-forward” by nature, Catalina’s Revenge (6.9% ABV, 45 IBUs) sources an enhanced hop aroma through several additions of Citra hops at “different intervals” while the beer’s “bitterness [is] balanced with malty caramel undertones.”

“It really goes to bat for team Pale Ale rather than team IPA.” says Tom Garcia, Brewmaster at Iron Fist Brewing Company. “A great summer beer and it was a great opportunity to use Citra Hops in a slightly malty beer to create a unique flavor profile. Sometimes you just need to make beer flavored beer. Straight to the point, hops, water, barley, yeast. We are very excited to make a classic pale ale with a few new interpretations. Cheers to real beer.”

Catalina’s Revenge will officially debut on Friday, July 12 in Iron Fist Brewing Company’s Vista and Barrio Logan taprooms.  This Limited Release offering will be available in limited-edition 12 oz. cans and on draft. Like all Small Batch Experiments, Catalina’s Revenge is a taproom exclusive that will not see distribution.  Prost!
