Firestone Walker & Green Bench Brewing Collaborate on Dabbling in Decoction

Firestone Walker Brewing Company (Paso Robles, California) has officially announced that it will begin the Limited Release of Dabbling in Decoction, a special collaboration project with Green Bench Brewing Co. (St. Petersburg, Florida), in early July 2022.

A collaboration that came to be after the crew at Firestone Walker met Green Bench’s “Khris Johnson . . . at the American Hop Convention in Tampa back in January,” Dabbling in Decoction is a dry hopped, decoction mashed American Pilsner featuring “all American ingredients: floor malted pilsner malt from Admiral Malt in California, flaked corn from Briess in Wisconsin, and Mount Hood and Lorien hops from Indie Hops in Oregon.” Coming in at 4.7% ABV, Dabbling in Decoction comes together to be a “dry, clean, and crisp pilsner with floral, citrusy, and minty hop aroma.”

Green Bench Brewing Co. Announces Return of Festbier Lager

Green Bench Brewing Co. (St. Petersburg, Florida) has officially announced that it will begin the Seasonal Release of its Festbier Lager in mid-July 2021.

Their authentic take on the celebratory beer of Germany, Green Bench’s Festbier is a German-style Lager brewed with “imported German Pilsner, Vienna, and Munich malts” to create a “clean and moderately strong malty flavor . . . developed entirely from a traditional double decoction process and natural carbonation.” Coming in at 5.8% ABV, Festbier “is more akin to a heavy bodied Helles with more hop flavor.”

Festbier is rolling out now and will hang around through the Oktoberfest Season. You can expect to find this Seasonal Release available in 12 oz. cans and on draft at select craft beer-focused establishments located within Green Bench’s distribution footprint in Florida. Prost!

Green Bench Brewing Co. Launches Pick & Roll Hazy Pale Ale Series

Green Bench Brewing Co. (St. Petersburg, Florida) has officially announced that it will launch its Pick & Roll Series, a rotating lineup of Hazy Pale Ales, with a Limited Can Release beginning at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16.

Named to express Green Bench Brewing Co.’s love for sports and current melancholy over missing basketball in particular, Pick & Roll is a new series of Hazy Pale Ales that will rotate out the featured hops with every release. Pick & Roll 00:01, the first release in this series, is a Hazy Pale Ale that comes in at 5.5% ABV and is double dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Citra hops.

The latest release in Green Bench Brewing Co.’s series of “sour, hazy, and oh-so fruity” Florida-style India Pale Ales (a.k.a. the FLIPA), Blackberry Pie is a Florida IPA brewed with blackberry, lactose, vanilla and cinnamon.  Coming in at 6.7% ABV, Blackberry Pie Florida IPA is guaranteed to be the perfect pairing for whatever quarantine/social distancing activity you have going on this week.

Organized to break up Tampa Bay Beer Week with a refreshing infusion of cider, this event will bring Ryan Burk, Head Cider Maker at Angry Orchard, and Green Bench’s Brian Wing to the table to discuss all the beautiful intricacies of cider with you over dinner.  This Cider Dinner will consist of the following five-course menu (served family style) prepared by the incredibly talented crew at LOKO Cuisine:

Inspired by the fact that St. Petersburg is home to the largest and oldest shuffleboard courts in the world, the mad geniuses at LOKO Cuisine have approached their first Eggs & Kegs event of 2020 by designing a menu “named after the sport’s ‘Tang’ cue stick and ‘Biscuit’ puck.”  The Tang! & Biscuits Brunch will consist of the following four-course meal (served buffet-style):

After five years of brewing on the edge of Ybor, Coppertail Brewing Co. is barreling into the second half of their first decade at full steam. The brewery has seen continued growth, firmly solidified an incredible lineup of Core, Seasonal and Limited Release beers while still finding time to keep their tap wall filled with inventive/experimental brewery-only offerings, and it even recently established the Coppertail Kitchen.  The last five years have given everyone at the brewery a lot to celebrate, and celebrate they will at their Fifth Anniversary Party on Saturday, August 24.

  • General Admission is FREE.  VIP is SOLD OUT.  If you have not already secured VIP tickets, there is no need to worry about tickets as this is a come-as-you-are, pay-as-you-go event.
  • Parking Info – Parking will be available in the brewery’s main lot, the remote lot in between 25th and 26th, street parking along 2nd and a remote lot on the corner of 2nd and 22nd. This remote lot is a 1/4 mile away from the brewery, but it will have a golf cart shuttle if you choose to use it. DO NOT PARK on 26th or the employee lot behind the building. A good portion of the festivities will be taking place in the brewery’s back lot. Uber/Lyft is encouraged.

Inspired heavily by “the islands’ mixed lunch plate”, Aloha Eggs & Kegs is a Hawaiian-style brunch that will pair wonderfully with a summer Sunday in Florida and any leis and/or tropical-print shirts you may or may not have tucked away in your closet.  This spirited brunch will consist of the following five-course meal (served buffet-style):

To cover the “kegs” portion of the brunch, Green Bench Brewing Co. will break out some tasty treats to complement the meal detailed above (one beer or cider is included in the ticket price). For those in need of their morning caffeine fix, Ginger Beard Coffee will also be on-site to pour up nitro-infused coconut coffee cold brew and Ceylon passion fruit tea (available for an additional cost).

Mastry’s Brewing Co. Marks First Anniversary with Three Specialty Releases

MastrysPartyInfoOn Saturday, October 14, Mastry’s Brewing Co. (St. Pete Beach, Florida) will celebrate its First Anniversary Party with the release of three new beers: Year One Wheat WineBourbon Barrel Aged Starless Night Russian Imperial Stout and Floribraska Hazy Tropical IPA.

With one year officially in the books as the first craft brewery and tasting room on St. Pete Beach, the Mastry’s Brewing Co. crew is more than ready to celebrate their first anniversary with a Beer Fest-style party on October 14.  The brewery’s theme of “taking traditional styles and combining influences from exotic locales” will be showcased at the party in the form of three special brews: Year One Wheat WineBourbon Barrel Aged Starless Night Russian Imperial Stout and Floribraska Hazy Tropical IPA.  The full descriptions and release details for these three Limited Releases are as follows:

  • Year One Wheat Wine – “The first of the specialty beer releases will be ‘Year One’, a Wheat Wine ale brewed at 8% Abv. This golden ale boasts a nose like a bouquet of Chrysanthemums. Year One has a taste that is dry and light despite the gravity. Year One is an elegant ale brewed for celebration, available on draught only.”
  • Bourbon Barrel Aged Starless Night – “The second small-batch release, will be the ‘Bourbon Barrel Aged Starless Night’. This limited-release batch of the infamous Starless Night is rested in Bourbon Barrels and is the quintessential sticky barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout. Bourbon Barrel Aged Starless Night is rich, thick and decadent with notes of Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Bourbon, Caramel, and Macaroon. Bourbon Barrel Aged Starless Night will be available in bottles and on draught, brewed at 11% Abv.”
  • Floribraska Hazy Tropical IPA – “The third new release for the celebration will be the first out-of-state collaboration for Mastry’s Brewing Co. In partnership with Infusion Brewing Co. in Omaha, NE, the two brewing teams developed ‘Floribraska’, a hazy tropical IPA made with maize, lactose, and guava at 6.2% Abv. This limited-release IPA is hopped with copious amounts of El Dorado, Citra, and Motueka. Available on draught only, get this small-batch collaboration while you can.”

Green Bench Brewing to Host 3 Year Anniversary Party

green-bench-logoOn Saturday, October 1 from 11 a.m. to close, Green Bench Brewing Co. (1133 Baum Ave N, Saint Petersburg, Florida) will be in full party mode to celebrate the brewery’s 3 Year Anniversary.

With an unwavering love for Saint Petersburg and a firm focus on creating “the best beer on the planet” by utilizing only the finest ingredients available, Green Bench Brewing Co. has created itself a firm foothold within the Florida craft beer community over the last three years.  To celebrate all of the challenges and successes along the way, the guys and gals at the brewery plan to throw a party to recognize the support and dedication of a very special guest of honor: you.  They know how difficult it would have been to come as far as they have since opening without the amazing level of devotion displayed by their fans, so this party is for you.

The 3 Year Anniversary Party is a multifaceted event jam-packed with a ridiculous amount of fun stuff to get into.  Let’s break it down:

  • To make sure you can properly experience all that this event has to offer, the brewery will be opening an hour early at 11 a.m.
  • This event will also acts as the fall kickoff event for the St. Pete Indie Market.  This market is “a unique destination for artisans, progressives, tourists and locals to come together in an outdoor alternative to retail setting. With 60+ vendors, craft beer and live art, the St. Pete Indie Market is a vital weekend destination for those in search of local flavor and the indie spirit.”
  • Limited Bottle Release #1: Sauvage Pomme, 100% Brett fermented Farmhouse Ale brewed with Amarillo hops & Michigan Apple Cider
  • Limited Bottle Release #2: The Golden Apple Mead. This is the brewery’s first bottle release from their Cider & Mead program.
  • Live music will start with Kristopher James from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by Donna Lu from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Dropin Pickup will close out the evening’s live entertainment.
  • A food truck will be on-site to handle any grubbin’ needs you may encounter.
  • Finally, “there will be a ton of drink specials, and other surprises and treats for you throughout the day JUST because we love you.”
