3 Sons Brewing Co. Embarks on a Tap Takeover & Can Release Tour of Florida

3SonsLogo3 Sons Brewing Company (Dania Beach, Florida) has officially announced that it will be traveling the state of Florida to hold a series of Tap Takeover and Can Release events from Wednesday, June 12 to Sunday, June 16.

Now that their brewery and taproom are both fully operational, the good people at 3 Sons Brewing Company feel that it is now time to properly introduce themselves to the craft beer-loving masses of Florida.  They will be doing this by hitting up a few “neighborhood brewery spots, and bringing along some cans of deliciousness as well as a few special beers to tap.”

All of these Florida Tour events will feature can releases of the brewery’s Dopealicious IPA, Doc Hop IPA, Green Ocean Session IPA, and Ocean Park Pils (“for the #crispybois”).  Although the can releases will be the same, each location’s event will feature its own vibe and a Tap Takeover consisting of its own unique tap list.  The full schedule for 3 Sons Brewing Company’s Florida Tour is as follows (event descriptions sourced directly from the brewery’s newsletter):

  • Wednesday, June 12 | Boxelder Craft Beer Market | Miami, Florida – Stop by Boxelder in Miami on June 12th, and pick up a few 4-packs of our beers to go. • Thursday, June 13 | MIA Beer Company | Doral, Florida – On Thursday, we’ll be making our way out to our second stop at MIA Beer Co. • Friday, June 14 | Hidden Springs Ale Works | Tampa, Florida – On Friday we’ll be bringing the heat to Hidden Springs in Tampa! Our cans will be available for purchase, but our tap takeover will be difficult to beat. In addition to Rice Crispy Bois Pils, DDH Galactic Space Juice DIPA, Guava Acres, and DB Base Nectar, we’ll be sending our newest barrel aged stout treated with Brazilian Coffee, The Wolf. It’s gonna be a howlin’ good time!
  • Saturday, June 15 | Hawthorne Bottle Shoppe | St. Petersburg, Florida – On Saturday we’ll be visiting our good friends at Hawthorne Bottle Shoppe in St. Petersburg! Once again, our cans will be available for purchase and they’ll be tapping our newest beers Rice Crispy Bois Pils and DDH Galactic Space Juice DIPA. AND in addition to that heat, they’ll be tapping a special keg of Barrel Aged Imperial Scoop! Don’t sleep on this one!

Fun Fact – On the history of the Piña Colada: “Puerto Rico is the birthplace of the Piña Colada (strained pineapple in Spanish). The creator of one of the most popular frozen cocktails (it even has its own national holiday – July 10th), is still hotly disputed. It may have been in the early 1800’s by a pirate known as El Pirata Cofresí; he stole from rich merchants and gave the spoils to the poor in Puerto Rico, but the recipe was lost when he was caught and executed. It didn’t resurface again until the 1950’s and there are three other different people and places that claim to have invented it.

Iron Fist Brewing Introduces Cheap Suit as Newest Small Batch Experiment

Iron Fist Brewing (Vista, California) has officially announced that Cheap Suit Brown Ale will serve as the March release in its Small Batch Experiments Series.

Releasing as the second installment in Iron Fist’s newly-established Small Batch Experiments Series (preceded by the February release of Fresh Perspective IPL), Cheap Suit is a Golden Brown Ale that has been hopped with EKG and hit with an addition of tart cherries.  Far from what you would expect to get “from your traditional Brown English Ale”, this take on the Brown Ale style “boasts flavors of roasted malt with dried fruit overtones, and earthy hop notes.”  Weighing in at 5.2% ABV and 30 IBUs, Cheap Suit supplies its drinker with an experience that is “medium bodied, with a dry finish and full
carbonation.”

“If this beer could talk… it would say, ‘take a seat my friend and get cozy. Let’s
watch the rain fall, the grass grow, and take in the day.’ The addition of tart cherries adds a bit of intrigue to the conversation, keeping it bright and adding a bit of wow.”

– Tom Garcia, Brewmaster at Iron Fist Brewing

Cheap Suit officially started pouring on draft at both Iron Fist Tap Room locations – Brewery & Tap Room in Vista, California | Barrio Logan Tap Room in San Diego, California – on March 8 and a limited-edition run of 500 12 oz. cans is expected to release any day now (keep an eye on Iron Fist’s Facebook page for release updates).  Like all releases in the Small Batch Experiments Series, Cheap Suit will be available exclusively in the brewery’s taprooms and will not see distribution.  Prost!
