Iron Fist Brewing Launches Seasonal Series with That Summer Feeling

IronFistLogoIron Fist Brewing Company (Vista, California) has officially announced that it will kick off a new line of taproom only Seasonal offerings with the release of That Summer Feeling – Hazy Wheat Ale on Friday, June 21.

Developed to make you “forget any preconceptions of wheat beer and open up your mind [to] something refreshingly different”, That Summer Feeling is a “true hybrid” that combines the Hazy Pale Ale and American Wheat Beer styles. Brewed with “massive amounts of Galaxy hops and a touch of Amarillo”, this Hazy Wheat Ale is “big on dank hop and tropical fruit flavors” that include “pineapple, stone-fruits and mango followed by a light floral finish.”  Coming in at 5.4% ABV and 75 IBUs, That Summer Feeling is “a refreshing breeze taking the edge off that summer heat.”

“We didn’t want to just brew another American Wheat Beer… we wanted to make something different, so we kept the haze and decided to turn the bitterness up to 11. Most breweries make this hybrid beer at a medium to low IBU range – think 35. We balanced the beer with a 75 IBUs to give it a unique punch. We put the equivalent of bitter tropical sunshine in a pint.”

– Tom Garcia, Brewmaster at Iron Fist Brewing

Appalachian Mountain Brewery Launches Sour Series with Release of Margarita Gose

AMBlogoAppalachian Mountain Brewery (Boone, North Carolina) has officially announced that it will kick off its newly-established Sour Series with the June release of Margarita Gose.

Also known as Marg Gose (pronounced “mar-go-suh”) to Appalachian Mountain Brewery’s dedicated regulars, Margarita Gose is a traditional German-style Gose “brewed with fresh lemons and limes, sea salt, and coriander.”  Clocking in at just 3.8% ABV, the “thirst-quenching” Margarita Gose is sure to be perfect accompaniment for a summer in the South Atlantic.

The origin story for Margarita Gose dates back to when Appalachian Mountain Brewery “won the Brewbound ‘Start-Up Brewery Challenge’ in 2014 and visited Portland’s Widmer Brothers Brewing to brew a victory collaboration beer.”  It was during this experience that the brewing team at Appalachian Mountain Brewery “learned about kettle-souring techniques and the inspiration for Marg Gose was born.”

“Brewing that first sour beer with Widmer Brothers sparked our creativity, and we fell in love with the style,” said Nathan Kelischek, Brewmaster at Appalachian Mountain Brewery. “We kicked off our sour program here in Boone, and we’ve been experimenting with kettle sours ever since, adding our own High Country flair to the traditional style.”

Margarita Gose will roll out in June and is expected to hang around as long as supplies last.  You can expect to find this Limited Release offering available in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft at select craft beer-friendly establishments located within Appalachian Mountain Brewery’s distribution footprint in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.  Prost!
