High Pines IPA Joins Highland Brewing’s Year-Round Lineup

Highland Brewing (Asheville, North Carolina) has officially announced that it will add High Pines IPA to its Year-Round portfolio in mid-February 2021.

High Pines, “named with the forest and fresh scent of mountain pine in mind,” is a West Coast-style Imperial India Pale Ale featuring Mosaic, Simcoe, Centennial, and Comet hops. Clocking in at 9% ABV and 65 IBUs, High Pines is “a big West Coast IPA with resinous blueberry and piney hop flavor.”

“At Highland, we are working hard to make some of the best IPAs in the industry and following the success of Rising Haze in 2020, we wanted to take it to the next level by offering an Imperial IPA,” said Patrick Sullivan, Highland’s Sales Director. “High Pines is a big, delicious, piney IPA that is easy to drink even at 9% ABV. This beer has done extremely well in our taproom and we expect it to be a solid addition to our year-round portfolio.”

Highland brewer, Jesse Lapinski, said “High Pines was made in the tradition of old-school West Coast IPAs. While it does not shy away from big bitter, resinous hops, it has a good malty body to balance that bitter, piney flavor.” Lapinski continued, “My wife loves the label and I think this is the perfect beer for a bonfire or a winter warmer into springtime.”

High Pines IPA is scheduled to debut in mid-February with availability in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft. You can expect to find this new Year-Round at craft beer-focused establishments located within Highland Brewing’s distribution footprint in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Georgia. Dogfish Head Gets Into the Oat Milk to Make Hazy-O! IPA

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) has officially announced that Hazy-O!, the first nationally distributed oat milk IPA, is hitting craft beer shelves and taps now as the brewery’s newest Year-Round offering.

Carefully concocted to “[highlight] the magic found at the intersection of two unique, but unexpectedly complementary trends” – Hazy IPAs and Oat Milk, Hazy-O! is a Hazy/Juicy India Pale Ale “brewed with four types of oats – malted oats, rolled oats, naked oats and oat milk” from Elmhurst 1925 – and “liberally dry-hopped with hop varieties that deliver an abundance of tropical notes, including citrus, mango and pineapple.” Coming in at 7.1% ABV, the “sumptuous, full-bodied” Hazy-O! comes together to be “a hop-forward beer that is smooth and refreshing.”

“While Hazy-O! features a bunch of high-quality culinary ingredients, it’s the oats that are really the star of the show,” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head Founder & Brewer. “Each of the oat formats used in Hazy-O! provides a unique characteristic to the beer. The malted oats offer a delicate malty sweetness; the rolled oats contribute a dense haze; the naked oats provide a subtle toasty, caramel character; and the piece de resistance, oat milk, creates a silky soft mouthfeel that makes Hazy-O! drink like a 5% ABV session sipper, instead of the 7.1% ABV powerhouse that it is. This foundation-of-four oat formats creates a target, allowing the beer’s bright and juicy hops to hit the flavorful bullseye.”

“When we heard the team at Dogfish Head wanted to launch an oat milk IPA, we jumped at the chance to partner with them,” said Heba Mahmoud, VP of Marketing at Elmhurst 1925. “Surprisingly enough, there was a natural synergy between the two brands. We’re all about using clean ingredients and maximizing the nutritional value and taste profile of plant-based offerings. We’re thrilled to help bring this new beverage to those seeking options they don’t have to question when it comes to ingredients and taste. We can’t wait to be a part of special moments among friends and families as they sip and create lasting memories.”

Hazy-O! is available now in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft. You can expect to find this new Year-Round offering at craft beer-focused establishments located in Alabama, Florida, Delaware and throughout the rest of Dogfish Head’s distribution network. Prost!

Featured Ingredients – Four types of oats: malted oats, rolled oats, naked oats & oat milk from Elmhurst 1925
Fun Fact – “The first-ever nationally distributed oat milk-centric IPA, Hazy-O! took almost a year of R&D to perfect. In fact, to ensure they harnessed all the goodness of oat milk in Hazy-O!, Dogfish Head enlisted the help of oat milk scientists from Elmhurst 1925, a family-owned, plant-based milk producer out of New York. Using Elmhurst’s culinary prowess and its Unsweetened Milked Oats, made with only three simple ingredients – oats, water and a bit of salt, Dogfish Head finalized the recipe for Hazy-O!, and ‘ooooh,’ it is delicious!”
